Over here she was better known for being Ted Danson's opposite number on the most popular sitcom in America after Cosby went off the air (and a perennial top-ten show). I was young enough that I didn't see any of the shows with the original female lead until syndication, so I never got why some people were upset by the transition to Kirstie.
I hope they all answer ho-de-ho when she gets to the pearly gates.

Hi-de-hi was a decent comedy whilst it was establishing itself and Ruth certainly played a big part in it's popularity.
Sort of quite fit when she was in Hi de Hi, what do we think?
For the older posters ,maybe but she was 20 years older than me so she was petrifying.
