He was the best English left-hander of his generation, perhaps the finest England batsman of his generation. He certainly had the highest Test average of all the England batsmen he played a lot of Tests with.

I read his autobiography many years back and it was clear Thorpe had issues in his personal life that did effect his career but he still managed to get to 100 Test matches which is an achievement on it's own.

I loved the way he used to stroll to the crease and counter-attack even if (as usual) England lost early wickets to try and get the initiative back our way and he had a cracking cover drive.

RIP Graham Thorpe.
 
Yeah he was the sheriff in Halloween I think. RIP.
