I went to school with Stephen, he broke his neck playing in goal for the Boundary when he was in his early Twenties and was paralysed from the neck down, but made a life for himself of which Everton played a big part

I saw John Savident on stage not that long ago in Hobson's Choice. He had huge stage presence to be sure!

He made his mark all right - one of countless fine working British actors.
