Pioneering psytrance DJ/Producer Goa Gil passed away at 72 yesterday from cancer. Famous for his 24 hour DJ sets among other things, he was one of the original Haight Ashbury hippies, being involved with The Family Dog and Sons of Chaplin musical collectives, before travelling the world and ending up in Goa to become of the founders of the burgeoning electronic music scene there in the '80s.

Yeh just seen that in TMZ. Looks like he drowned at home. Such a shame. Only 54.
