Very very sad.

He was at a Scotland game this autumn. Just goes to show how quick stuff can happen. 52 has a reference point for me. No age at all.

I have no idea mate. All I do know is that if a body or mind is in some way compromised, the most trivial medical thing can lead to a pretty quick demise.

Or one can give up/make a choice.

Had the pleasure of meeting Doddie at an after dinner speakers event at Waterloo not long after he retired. Brilliantly charismatic and had time for everyone. Stayed at the club until it shut for the night and was running line out drills in the bar.
A horrible illness that has taken a gem of a man who never gave up and did an awful lot to raise awareness of a horrible illness.

I've read a few things over the last few years that suggest people who are genetically predisposed to it become a greater risk from playing contact sport. From memory there's been quite a few ex NFL players develop it.
