That's sad, but I suppose he had a good innings. He was a guest speaker at a works do I had about 20 years ago, he seemed to enjoy it and have lots of time for everyone which is more than can be said of some who just turn up for the cash and run. RIP

Yeah, decent innings and kept working to the end. Was a proper old timey comedian (wrote for Morecombe and Wise) who also always embraced new acts, and didn’t fall into the “it’s not like it was in my day” trap that many seem to do.

was still writing on modern stuff right up until recently, he was a regular writer for programmes such as I'm sorry I haven't a Clue presented by Jack Dee on R4, funny writer, RIP.
 
I remember Barry Cryer chairing a programme during the 70's called 'Jokers Wild', Mock the week nicked its format.
An enduring act and his work will live on through repeats of M&W and Two Ronnie's, he also wrote a lot of the Kenny Everett show. RIP Fella.
