Families would have tea together on a Saturday night and settle down to watch shows on the telly. Lionel Blair would invariably feature in them leading the dancers brilliantly. It's as much the passing of those happy days that I miss.

He also appeared in The Beatles film 'A Hard Day's Night'.

Legendary jazz guitar great Pat Martino passed away a few days ago. Had a stellar career, then had a brain issue and suffered total amnesia and forgot how to play, then reinvented his old self. From wikipedia:

Martino had been performing until a hemorrhaged arteriovenous malformation caused a "near-fatal seizure" in 1980. This left him with amnesia and no recollection or knowledge of his career or how to play the very instrument that made him successful. Martino says he came out of surgery with complete forgetfulness, learning to focus on the present instead of the past or what may lie ahead. He was forced to learn how to play the guitar from zero. This circumstance is crucial to understand his career and his particular way of thinking

He could laugh at himself could Lionel Blair.

And he was cockney slang for a pair of trousers or ‘having a Lionel’ ( nightmare )
