They say that they are winning the fight against cancer but I'm just not seeing it.
They told her that she would not see another Christmas which to me seems incredibly blunt and insensitive.

RIP
She must have asked for the honest outlook, sadly sometimes they just can't do much mate, at least she had the opportunity to get her affairs in order and say her goodbyes.

I'd certainly want it straight. What would be the benefit of the doctor not being honest?

Same goes for those who think they have something wrong but don't go to the doctor because they think not knowing is the same as not being ill. The outcome will never be better than if you just go and get it confirmed and treated.

I hope it was and perhaps that was just her version of events? Or perhaps she asked specifically whether it was likely she would get to next Christmas so she knew she had to make that one as special as it could be.

It would have been sensitive, and also factual, based on her medics knowledge. As in, no soft soap false hope. She and her family would also have built a bond with those treating her, so would trust them, and likewise, they (medics) would know how to deliver their prognosis.

Terribly sad for one so young, but trust me, knowing what is happening, and the odds of what might happen, make the whole process far "easier" to, er, process.

I was told 20 mins for Mrs R, DNR agreed, 18 months ago. Just about to make her some supper.
