He did. Always gave the impression of being slightly out of his depth. Came across well though and is fairly fondly remembered up north.I just remember him playing when I was a kid.... sure he done a managerial stint at Newcastle? I could be wrong

This. Saw him playing for Orient at Palace a week or so after they’d been beaten in the FA Cup (maybe a SF?). Must have been around 78. Also managed Norwich I think.I just remember him playing when I was a kid.... sure he done a managerial stint at Newcastle? I could be wrong

Yes, looked it up. The following Saturday they lost 1-0 at Palace. Roeder, an elegant, ball playing defender at the time, left for QPR at the end of that season. They lost the semi to Arsenal 3-0

Yes. It was just about the beginning of the so called “Team of the Eighties”. We had won the FA Youth Cup the year before and would win it again that season. Hilaire, Sansom and one or two others just starting to play regularly. Was that when Venables was in charge at Palace?

Found it.RIP Glen, always come across as a decent person. Anybody remember the clip of him doing stopovers and beating players on the touch line? Not sure if it was on the start of MOTD in the 80s.
He did manage the Canaries and signed Wes Hoolahan an exquisite skiillful footballer and fan favourite at Bloomfield road, who went on to be a club legend with Norwich. The Irish Messi i think they called him.This. Saw him playing for Orient at Palace a week or so after they’d been beaten in the FA Cup (maybe a SF?). Must have been around 78.
