Best non punk band of the punk era ever The Stanglers.

I was just about to post on this.

I loved the Stranglers. First album bought was Black & White. Seen them many times.

Dave was a great keyboard player.

A wizard of the keyboards, I absolutely loved the stranglers in their pomp with the original classic lineup. He featured the harpsichord s lot which was novel for the time.

Very true dave. JJ was a genuine nutter who had run ins with the press and peer bands. I think hugh cornwell left in the end cos JJ was so unhinged

When Keith Floyd was alive, (obvs), and had a restaurant in Bristol, JJB and Hugh Cornwell used to gig there. (Sounds mad that, but its true).

Its why Floyd used Peaches on his TV programmes.

The music press hated them cos they were far brighter than the hacks. Both JJB and Cornwell had B Eds in some weird field of biology or sommet. Both black belts in various martial arts too.

And as my memory has focused on them, one of Cornwells songs was inspired by the one way system in Trowbridge. Typically, cant remember which song.

Hard to think what any music scene would be like without Kraftwerk, they broke as many boundaries as the Beatles.

Kraftwerk pretty much created an entire genre of music and in the early days they were making their own instruments/synths to get the sounds they wanted. They went to a level The Beatles (as good as they were) could only dream about imo.

I feel bad, last few days I've broke some sad news on here about two influential musicians !

It really was'nt in the early days mate, they made a lot of their synths and other electronic items because none existed on the market at the time, they started out in the mid 60's don't forget
