Cool, the next time Bob batters his wife with a golf club around the head (only once) because he's apparently having mental issues then it should be excused.

What about if Tina decides to stab her husband during similar circumstances? What if Flack had fractured his skull? Does it need repeated blows to be criminal?

Oh, this is actually possible during the judicial system because a bench or judge can find someone not-guilty because of diminished responsibility. That not fair?

If the evidence suggests a crime has taken place, I want the police and CPS to investigate it every time and if needs be mitigation can be heard in court...

...not before hand. Like I've said, I have sympahty for the woman - I truly do -, but the needs of the many must go before the case of one individual.

It's a tiny scratch on his head mate, look at the context in this individual case, it's ridiculous they wanted to prosecute, we aren't talking about golf clubs being involved are we.

Police caution and referred to a counsellor would have been the way to deal with this case, police using a sledgehammer to crack a nut.

You see it all the time. Men are brandished for a crime and it never gets shaken.

Only the extremely famous people have It disappear in time. Plenty of music stars that people forget did horrible things in their career.

But in this instance , the point still stands. The fact is she hit him while he was asleep and unable to defend himself. Perhaps the case is blown out of proportion if he didn't want to press charges. I'll concede on that front, from the information that has come out since.

A male in this scenario would not receive such sympathy post death though. I can't just pull examples because you don't get this story very often. Even Kobe Bryant after his death was greeted by some areas with rapist mentions. There's your example! Even though it was never proven.

In these circumstances, it was in no way in the public's interest for her to be charged, which is what the CPS thought in the beginning, but had to change their stance when senior coppers decided to use serious domestic abuse laws to get her charged.

Do you want to see someone charged in those circumstances?, I certainly don't I can tell you that, I want an empathetic decision made which was clearly lacking here.

do you know what the waiting list for councillors is ? I presume you’d just wait For one to be available, bring hit on the head with a lamp , if true , whilst asleep is pretty serious, . Also head wounds bleed a lot even minor ones .

if a female relative of mine was assaulted in such a way even if she wanted to drop the charges I’d hope the cps prosecuted not to mention that I’d probably be looking at bail conditions myself .

She's loaded, she'd pay for treatment, bet she already had a shrink.

The papers and media made out she'd bashed him up good with a lamp when it happened and I had no sympathy for her, now there is no court case all the details are coming out, my view on it has totally changed.

My opinion, not in the public's interest to prosecute, it was a minor assault, she did more harm to herself, she was in hospital 12 hours after the event to have her self harming wounds attended to, that's why the boyfriend called the police, he was worried for her safety.

Did he say that in his original police statement immediately after the incident or once it was decided to prosecute?

so you get a recommendation for counselling only if you can afford it ?

The media response shouldn’t really impact how we view anything really should it ? Frankly it’s been appalling .

i completely get she’s self harmed but is there a line where that excuses your conduct ? So what can someone do and be excused ? For me I’ll go with the cps as I think domestic assaults should go through the system

The same to be honest. I was of the opinion it was a serious assault, but it was only a common assault. Probably could have been dealt with via a caution and that’s it.
