.....yep, Irish crooner who had a prime time Saturday night entertainment show for many years.

He seemed to be a permanent part of Christmas when I was a kid. My nan who minded us when the folks were on the festive ale ,used to love him. I hated it.

Sad co-incidence, I had my 15 year old son playing Paddy McGinty's Goat on Spotify in the car the other day - my son just texted me "that Irish guy with the goat song is dead"

Delaney's Donkey is one of the finest songs of the last century.

I've no doubt the Brits will hand him some sort of posthumous award this year, probably get Ronan Keating to hand it to one of his grandchildren or something equally fitting.
