The curious case of a man named Andy.

He's been a massive part of our growth under David Moyes, fair play to him. He's up there with Duncan Ferguson, it has to be said.

  :D :D

He drinks in the day and his name is Van der Meyde. He drinks in the night and his name is Van der Meyde. He drinks all the time and his name is Van der Meyde...Heyyyyyyyyy Van der Meyde.

You will be sorely missed

At least if he stays in the North West the local economy (Pubs, Bars & Brewery) won't take a dive !!!

Every little helps whilst this credit crunch thing is going on !!

VDM is a legend. He bought me and my mates countless rounds of drinks one saturday afternoon. And for that, I have built a Dixie Dean-esque statue made from Stella cans. (Except he's not holding a ball, its a bottle of White Lightning)

Interesting if you look on the academy/reserve players Q&As on the OS - 75% of them reckon van der Meyde in training is the best player they've ever seen/played with.

Clearly, he never amounted to anything for us on the pitch and drained a fair amount out of club coffers, but seems to me that he may have actually had a positive influence on some of our kids on the training pitch - along with providing them with their own 'how-not-to' guide to being a professional athlete and a stark reminder of why they need to keep their heads down and work.

Not sad to see him go, but it could've been worse - at least he wasn't on Owenesqe wages (could he end up with the Geordies now?!) or cost us a massive amount initially.

To be honest, Moyes never did give him another chance after a particular incident last year (or was it two years ago) which drew the final straw. But he's cleaned up his act since then it seems. Too little too late, what could have been for both him and us. Wish him all the best.

I wont miss him. He's a fuc*in waster who's had chance after chance. We dont need examples like him in our squad with all the young players we have.

Interesting post mate. I think that may be more to do with the technical skills and tricks he can do - his natural talent is no secret. Maybe if some of them learned a bit from him some good can have come from his time at Everton

You never know, he might come back as a technical coach next season!
