As for Matt Damon, how can he honestly say that the VAT increase wont affect food prices.
.

Funnily enough he hasn't shown his fake head in here since his preposterous suggestion.

Yep. Two-thirds of all people on incapacity benefit under Labour were really Olympic standard athletes ready for a return to full training. ******* unbelievably nasty. Slinging people in pain off onto a lower benefit to 'cure' them, apparently.

But what about this one mate, this takes the biscuit: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/10426714.stm

Unemployed people will be 'offered' the 'chance' to be tipped out of their house and relocated like some ******* thief in the night to a part of the country 'where there is jobs' for them. Not so much 'get on yer bike' as 'get out of town'.

What next? Concentration camps and *coughs* revolutionary *shower facilities* to get the population down?

Some will be delighted. 12 posters on this very forum voted for them. Only two actually piped up who they were like.

The Party of the People aren't they?

Have we a list of who voted for them? Indefensible.

We know Bruce did. He's probably started his own taxi business running the unemployed from Hackney up to Stornaway for the sheep shearing season.

The 80s & 90s again anyone? So loads of northerners and scousers (like what happend in the 90s) move to the southern suburbs to get a job. The southerners have their noses put out of joint at these 'monkeys' coming down south earning their crust and creates a further north-south divide, to add to the one we already have. Then whatever crime goes on in that area gets blamed on the northern people because they are 'criminals' or at least stereotyped as them.

Ready for this sort of thing for the next 5 years. The tories really love patronising the so-called 'lower end' of society don't they? Bastards

Just a small point. Housing Benefit works out at 21 billion a year. Probably half of which is fraudulenty claimed.

Here is what you do. Mate A buys property A in Speke. Mate B buys property B in Warrington. Mate A claims he lives in Warrington at proprty B and cannot afford the rent so gets housing benefit and Mate B does like wise for property A. So each fraudulently gets housing benefit.

Now should that practice be allowed to continue or stopped?

Immigrant comes in with big family and no job. Council have to house him so put him in a big house which in London can mean housing Benefit claimed of up to £2000 per week.

Should that be allowed or turned down?

The VAT is a real killer, that is going to mess up a lot of industries.

?????? How they pay VAT on incoming and charge it on out going, and make a claim for repayment on the incoming. VAT is charged to the customers.

BTW the increase is 2.5%. Did anyone really notice if prices really went down when it was reduced to 15% and go up when it was returned to 17.5%??

on £10 the increase is 25p
on £100 it is £2.50
on £1000 it is £25
on £10000 it is £250
on £20000 it it £500

So yes the poorest members of our society are dashing out to spend 10K or 20k or put it another way how much are your household espenses and add 2.5%. You all act as though the increase is 20%

Take into account if you are paying income tax then next year you will pay £200 less and if your wife/partner also works then it is £400. That increase in personal allowances is more then Gordon Brown did in the last 5 years!!

My daughter is a civil servant and she will get a pay rise of £250, last year from Brown she got 0% as part of a 3 year deal which was imposed on her department for which over that period the total gross increase was 3%

Just some points. Not saying everything is rosy but it does help if certain people look at the whole and do not cherry pick points that suit them and ignore the rest.

As hard as the question 'Should a criminal be allowed to commit crimes?' is neither of those things happen any where near as much as the Mail or the Sun likes to claim. Going after benefits is going to hurt genuine people who aren't lazy and aren't fraudsters and aren't trying to do anything dishonest and I'm sick of people trying to pretend otherwise. It's just more of that 'All people on benefits/homeless people/immigrants are lazy scroungers who don't want to work and are just trying to con moneny off the government' bollocks.

Half of all Housing benefit is fake? Where's your evidence for that?

I'm not even going to start on an immigrant being given a big house in London for free because that is far far from the norm.

Read again friend I said probably and believe me I know from experience the fraud that goes on with housing benefit. In all situations there are honest claimants but when the system is allowed to get so loose fraudsters take advantage as with Tax Credits which was reportedly losing 3 billion a year to fraud per the PAC.
