Well what I find strange is this government has never run the country before. Also the government before Labour, well they pretty much behaved just like the Conservative party.

The country are in [Poor language removed] loads of debt from a Labour government, they need to get out of that debt for the good of the country, it's not all about Liverpool.

So cuts needed to be made, and a rise in VAT also have to be made. For the good of the country.

Not buying your 1800's style view of Liverpool, sorry.

peoples lack of self-restraint has to come into it a bit as well.
As well as the fact that banks shouldn't have been loaning money out left right and centre, people should have bore in mind the fact that if their job went then they would have no means of paying it back, a lot of people grabbed everything that was offered and will either be paying it back for yonks, or won't pay a dime back, unfortunately a lot will get away with paying very little if anything, which everyone else will have to fund somehow.
