So you don't want them to do exposes? It feels you want to believe the BBC prioritise Twitter spats so that's what you see? What Twitter spats have been big on BBC News recently?

The problem, it seems, is that you would rather make stuff up than check what's actually true.
No, I believe the bbc prioritise minor issues and do not do enough to highlight bigger issues in the country.

Is it really news that private schools get better results than state schools?
Who’s on strictly?
Are those the 2 biggest issues?

First one - yes, massively and that you included 'Lack of opportunity for young people' as a problem yet don't think this is an issue is mad
Strictly - it's not on the BBC News site, it's on the BBC landing page so it's probably acceptable for the BBC to report news of BBC TV shows on there...

Exploitation by energy companies who claim renewable energy but keep hiking prices - https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-58106105
Failure to fund basic safe and reliable equipment to the armed forces whilst spending billions on useless aircraft carriers - https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-56386446

These last two, at least, are just lazy press release reporting. That's not a problem limited to the BBC, of course. The 24 hour media cycle, which in principle should lead to a more informed citizenry, has instead led to those in power having greater influence through the provision of the content necessary to fill the cycle.

Have you got any evidence of this? Or even just explanation

I don't think the notion that big stories get killed because they upset the power brokers with the funding is at all controversial. See: Wigand, Jeffrey. The unusual thing about that one was that it eventually came out.

This is a completely different point to the one made. It's also a fairly lazy point.

You asked the poster to provide evidence backing up the notion that the BBC pulls its punches, and focuses on minutiae instead. I gave you a two part answer to that question.

It doesn't prove his point, but it should inform you as to where that point of view is coming from.

Literally one of your points suggested the BBC doesn't report on an issue because of power brokers and then goes on to say that it was reported on

The two articles I raised as issues came straight off of press releases. One was government. One was corporate.

The point that I am making is that reporters take what is handed to them by the government and corporations due to the need for content. There isn't time to deep dive everything, so often times news outlets just report the spin they are handed. In the case of the corporation's press release, there was at least a good faith effort to talk to somebody to present the other side.

The ordering of the arguments and the tone does matter, though. That could easily be a very different article which is much more critical of the corporation.

At other times, it has been shown that large media organizations kill major stories due to the financial implications.
