Calling Climate Change a hoax is a ridiculous statement. It flies in the face of all consensus in the scientific community. NO scientific association in the ENTIRE world has a dissenting opinion on climate change (the American Association of Petroleum Geologists' adopted statement does however say they are divided on the matter).
The Global climate IS warming. It's scientific fact. Temperatures in the last century have risen by anywhere from 0.56 to 0.92 celsius over the last years, and the rate of increase of the last 50 years has been around 0.10-1.16 C per decade and is continuing to rise sharply. Basically in the last 200-250 years CO2 concentrations have increased by 36% and by the end of this century they will have increased by anywhere from 90%-250% (increase on the circa 1750 figures).
Very simply put the carbon in the atmopshere is trapping heat inside the atmosphere which is heating the planet like a greenhouse.
Even if you completely deny all of the scientific evidence above (At current standards denying the scientific evidence on humanity's effect on the climate is akin to denying evolution by natural selection and advocating a creationist Young Earth +Intelligent Design stance) it is still completely illogical and insane to deny that the climate is indeed warming and that measures to protect our interests must be taken. This include flood defences for low lying and glaciated areas along with extensive upgrades to the transport, communication, electricity and sewerage networks.
In addition, you need to advocate hydrocarbon independence for the West. This would allow us to pick our fights in the world much more conservatively and safely. We are currently in a situation in which the safest and most secure democracies on the planet can be held to ransom by theocracies, dictatorships and anti-western socialists. And the easiest way to ensure our energy security is through renewables such as Wind, Solar and Tidal/Hydro.
If you, like the vast majority of the world's educated scientists, businessmen, engineers and politicians, believe that humanity is having a direct and catalytic effect on the planet's climate then you need to do exactly the same thing. We still need flood defences and infrastructure upgrades and we still need renewable energy, not just to prevent the West being dragged into unnecessary wars, but to ensure that CO2 levels in the atmosphere do not spiral out of control to a point in which we have caused irreparable damage. (The irreparable damage would be the devastation of human civilisation as we know it, not to the planet, obviously)

And as for the letting the Soviets have Eastern Europe.... There is a school of thought that says it would have been better to fight them there and then before weapons and firepower evolved to a point where mutually assured destruction was the only viable military strategy for war.
I would argue that that stance ignores the massive public opposition the Western Allies would have encountered, as well as the negative effects it would have had on Jewish population in Europe who were being rescued by the Soviets from concentration camps.
Not to mention the fact that the Soviets had a massive army and had massive industrial production and could produce tanks and roll them onto the battlefield in a very short time, whereas the Western industrial centre was in America. I'd personally say that the idea of invading the soviets is a clear example of people looking back from modern times with a modern viewpoint with the benefit of modern experience.

Even in the "liberation" of Berlin, the Russians suffered a lot of loss that the allies would have struggled with.
I'm sure that the allies would have been happier to reduce the Soviet sphere on the existing eastern borders of Germany (pre WWII) but weren't prepared to put the man power to it, the Americans were still engaged in a bitter way in the Pacific so there was only so much mileage in the Germany First policy.
