Been a long time since England have had a batting line up this poor. Johnson doesn't do anything with the ball. It's just pure pace, short or long, but it's got England terrified to play shots.

Major overhaul needed of the whole line up. Remember when people were arguing that Anderson was better than Steyn?

You say Johnson doesn't do anything with the ball, but he doesn't need to, out and out sheer pace is the best weapon in the game, you can't play fear, and after that, a simple lack of time to play a shot.

Dead right about the Anderson shouts, he's not a patch on Steyn for me and never has been, Steyn will be remembered as an all time great, not just for his country.

Aye you know England are doing Shiite when the Jocks are piping up!

I jest, I owe my lengthy green bar to your generosity.

The English bowlers and the batsmen don't see eye to eye, in fact I'm pretty sure they don't like one another. Unlike football or rugby where your a whole team you win and lose together, crickets a bit different, if you've bowled well but the top 4 batsmen can't put 30 runs together, fcuk 'em.

Aye Steyn is better than Andersen. But name one sound saffer?

It wasn't meant to say Johnson is a bad bowler, just that you know the ball is coming straight out of his hand, whereas the likes of Steyn, Harris and Anderson (prior to this tour at least) will get significant movement so it's harder to judge where the ball will start/finish.

I think Johnson has been built up to almost mythical status this series, and the fear factor is getting him wickets as opposed to him actually having to work for them.

Oh aye dead right, cricket is played more in the head than with the body I've found. I'd be cacking it if I got the call up having watched people come and go before him. He's good, bowls good areas for the modes of dismissal he's after (caught off short balls, bowled), but it's not always attractive. Much rather watch Steyn.

Johnson is bowling well, although he did cry when they won the ashes which was pretty lame.

Exactly, it's all very same-y. How many of his wickets are short balls, outside off stump, and the batsman has hesitantly wafted a bat at it, nicked through to the keeper or slips.
