Jimmy Anderson is a dead ringer for Karl Pilkington isn't he?

He'll just chuck fielders on the ropes all day, make them score as slowly as possible and hope there's less time in the game to grab a draw, it's worked before for him, but the crowd are like a 12th man at the Gabba.

I hate waking up to see that we've been ****e overnight.

Should probably not bother getting up then!

I was gonna come on here first thing today and say ppl (esp the press) shouldn't be talking up our chances in this test after day 1, but went on bbc website first and saw the score. Couldn't be less suprised, so typical of England.

nathan lyon ffs wouldnt get a game for hightown, , there wasnt 1 good ball bar for the 1 that got tremlett,. got themselves out england.

thats been a long time coming, the aussies didnt let us off the hook like we did to them and were being smashed by a team we should be beating, this is cooks england and they play not to lose, but the media will all stick up for him and probably blame kp

Got a few texts this morning from cocky mates over In Australia, poor chaps don't realise hardly anyone in England give a toss about cricket, certainly not in the same way the Aussies do.

1 good day in how many years and they have the cheek to blag? haha.

when i saw the score when i woke up, i wasn't shocked.

That's an an embarassment of a score, but this is a batting line-up that couldn't even cope with neil wagner.

I've said it time and time again but the main reason for this is one-day cricket.

Cook, Carberry, Trott, Pietersen, Bell, Root.

All of them have played regular ODI cricket within the last year. Why ffs? Test Cricket should be the main focus. Trott and Cook's strike rates have gone up, but their scores and averages have plumuted in the opposite direction.

How are the coaching staff so blind not to see it? Ever since he's been a regular fixture in the ODI Team Trott has stopped leaving every ball that's not hitting the stumps like he use to. He use to be a wall, unbeatable, but now he's a man who races to 20/30 off about 40/50 balls, when before it would take him 70, but he'd then go on to get 130 odd or more.

Gone from the best batting line-up in the world to one of the worst in about 2 and a half years. The bowlers are going to be shattered on this tour, they have to bowl at 13 batsmen already, well before the end of day 2! Why bother? They've been brilliant for the last year and have had such a heavy workload and have usually been the saviours with the bat on more than one occasion.

I think Gooch's time should have been up a long time ago imo, when will england learn to bat well in the first innings of a first test abroad? Pretty pathetic given the line-up, why do they keep making the same mistakes?

They are getting themselves out to average deliveries. There's a reason it's called test cricket, it's not been much of a test to bowl at this england for the last year and a half.

Was looking forward to a nice weekend of staying up all through the night to watch the cricket, is there any need to? this match is all over already i feel.
