I grew up watching some pitiful English cricket teams try and "compete" (I use that word loosely) in Ashes series in the 1990's. This is even worse than some of those teams. Embarrassing even from the perspective of this non-English cricket-loving fan.

Fair play to Aussie though. They've recovered well from the turmoil of sandpaper-gate a few years' back and even the Tim Paine stuff a few months ago. They just keep on churning out world-class players.

Congratulations England. You could see each player laser focused on the job in hand - to get back to the hotel bar as quickly as possible and my God they completed that task like the professionals they are. It wasn't easy, the ball could have easily hit the bat and gone for extra unnecessary runs, but not this England team, they weren't to be denied. My heroes.

I'm not sure how that's even possible.

I can't recall a time when we had such utter donkeys batting for us. You'd put the likes of Hick in this lineup and he'd be the best batsman after Root. He'd probably be the best spinner as well tbh.
