The Absence Of Pienaar & Finding A Like For Like Replacement

The players mentioned there have all had numerous good games and played for many seasons to base them off, despite either an injury hit or poor form season. Januja has ahd all but a few good games and has since flattered to deceive, he'd also be one of our highest earners if he came in.

Him and Barkley have pretty much mirrored each other really, both had a breakthrough campaign, both flopped second season. It's all about how much you want to gamble. 60k is a waste of Januzaj flops, undoubtedly, if he fulfills his potential then you've got a fantastic player on your hands that we'd never be able to afford on the open market normally. I'd go for him, I can see why others wouldn't though. After we have Fellaini 70k and Barry whatever he's getting, I really stopped caring about wages as it would drive me insane.

Barkley has had way more better games than him, and looks to have way more potential. His agent has already said hes going nowhere though so no need to argue

Should have been Tadic or Eriksen.

Fischer at Ajax was a FM favorite a few years ago but has fallen out of favor at Ajax. If the price were right, maybe he'd be worth a small gamble?

Been injured I think for about 14 months or something. Scored two on his return game though.

Yeah, I read a little bit after I posted. I have a Dutch friend who supports Ajax that was telling me he had gone crap, but now that I think about it, that must have been right before his injury.

I honestly can't think of many left sided creators that would fit the bill.

Cazorla? I think he's talented, but I've never been a big fan. And Coleman might upset him ;)
Silva? Not likely.
Koke? Less likely.
Oliver Torres? Maybe a loan?

We're going to end up with Brek Shea, aren't we?

Bloody hope not. I've seen a bit of Rafael Silva of Braga and he looks very good. He'd be one of the players who I would look at, but financial and other important stuff will dictate what we can realistically bring in.

Hopefully Roberto watches more Portuguese football than I do.

he is the Denmark Euro U21 team if you are interesting in seeing him. Based purely on yesterdays game he wasn't that great, their right winger/striker Poulsen looked a much better player but it was only one game.

Dunno anything about Rafael Silva except he's been built up as one of the next big things. I reckon he'll go for a fee much in excess of what we can afford.

You only require a like-for-like replacement if the circumstances remain unchanged.

If Baines changes his role in future, then we can look for a different style of left-sided midfielder too.

In the 3 players behind the striker, Martinez likes playing 1 winger and 2 attacking midfielders. I don't think that's gonna change, except for games were we set up on the counter of course.

Yeah the lad if fit has def got another good year in him, and even if he’s lost a couple of yards he could def fit into the no10 role when needed! every club in the league wished they had 2 players like pienaar and baines at there peak, the way they read each other play u’d think they were brothers! how do u replace that!!
buy two brothers?

I think most of us have underrated Pienaar. We keep looking outside the club for a winger, but a healthy Pienaar gives us balance and creativity on the left. It's not an accident that Baines' productivity going forward has dropped in proportion to the decreasing number of games Pienaar has been able to play.

On the other hand, we can't count on every player to stay fit all the time. You have to have enough depth to withstand injuries, which are part of the game.
