I can see the clev being played out in the pienaar role. It might just work, too. He's more inclined to assist the assister like pienaar, he has great technique and he's unselfish.

Yeah the lad if fit has def got another good year in him, and even if he’s lost a couple of yards he could def fit into the no10 role when needed! every club in the league wished they had 2 players like pienaar and baines at there peak, the way they read each other play u’d think they were brothers! how do u replace that!!

With great difficulty, or with pots of cash !

Agreed, I very much see this being the case. Already dead excited about people moaning about Cleverley 'not being a winger'. His best attributes are short passes, little one-twos and interplay...sounds about right to me

George Boyd is the ideal replacement.

Better than Elmo Hamady, or some other Muppet.

60k a week for a kid who has had no more than 5 good game behave, we can't waste money like that

How many good games has Barkley had this season? How many games have Gibson and Pienaar played? Or Kone? Or Oviedo? I'd wager Howard's and Barry's wages were flushed down the toilet as well. We're wasting wages all over the place. He'd play more than a lot of the players mentioned above. He was actually in decent form under Moyes. Like Del he's got talent and could turn out great or could turn out a flop. We can't dine at the top table so except for taking chances in precocious youngsters, how do you suggest we bridge the gap? Buy a load of Cleverleys and Lennons each year and wait in midtable for a billionaire? I'd rather gamble any day on a Januzaj than the likes of Elmohamody Mcgeady or Cleverley. They only guarantee mediocrity, that is a waste of wages.

Shame Tadic left the Dutch league the year we spent all our cash on securing Rom, he is the perfect replacement for Pienaar and we could have afforded him this season. Just shows timing is everything in football

The players mentioned there have all had numerous good games and played for many seasons to base them off, despite either an injury hit or poor form season. Januja has ahd all but a few good games and has since flattered to deceive, he'd also be one of our highest earners if he came in.
