The 20th World Athletics Championships. Tokyo 13th-21st September

Her finishing speed is something else. If she ever gets her starting off the blocks sorted out that silver becomes gold. Only 23 like so she can get quicker.

….and she thought she had a decent start (for her). She’s a unit of an athlete, maybe it will always takes a while for her to get up to speed but she also said ‘nobody finishes the last 100m as good as me’.

I remember her last year over 100m, as you say she can shift when she gets into top gear but I wonder if it will always be too late at that level. Even thought about 400m but they clearly know where she’s best.

21.68 is fast fast to win it, Hunt's best was in the semi at 22.08, can four tenths be found on the blocks and the bend? Hauling in Jackson is no small feat either.

….whilst she did brilliant to come 2nd, the winner was visually some distance ahead. I dare say further improvement can be found and on another day in Championship races, things might just go her way but that might have to happen if she’s going to win one.

She reminds me of the Dutch lady, Schippers, she was very good when she was running. Very similar in that once they get to to speed, they're incredible but it takes them a while to get really shifting, sometimes resulting in them running out of time when it matters. Schippers was a big unit too. Wouldn't fancy a square-go with her.

That certainly used to apply to Schippers in the 100m. She had more success in the 200 because she had more time to get going.

Their top speed might be up there with anyone but of course it's a sprint, so the start is just as important.

If she can improve her first half of the 200, she could start winning golds

Doktor with a 10m improvement took a few by surprise, and two in the mens decathlon failed all three high jump efforts at their opening height and register no score. In a world final. Shambles!
