Not surprised by this. As I said last week, the OS totally ignored her Olympic exploits. I am surprised she's going to City as I wasn't overly impressed by her last season. She played in a lot of different positions, even at right back. I thought we could have played her and Poppy Pattinson as attacking wing backs this season with 3 centre halves, seeing as we are so so strong in the middle with 4 good centre halves now.

By the way, do you know who were nos. 5 and 9 against Blackburn. I presume they were academy players.

Everton Women will begin their 2021/22 Barclays FA Women’s Super League campaign at Goodison Park for the visit of Manchester City.

The fixture is set to take place on Saturday 4 September with a scheduled 1.30pm (BST) kick-off.

Ticket details for the match will be announced on Everton channels in due course.

The Blues' opening two fixtures have been selected for live television broadcast by the BBC, with the trip to Chelsea the following weekend due to take place on Sunday 12 September (12.30pm BST).

Meanwhile, two more of Everton's WSL fixtures will be screened live on Sky Sports. The Club's return to Walton Hall Park on Saturday 25 September against Birmingham City will kick-off at 11.30am on Sky Sports Premier League.

Into October and the trip to face Arsenal on Sunday 10 October will begin at 3pm and will be shown on Sky Sports Premier League.

The league opener against Manchester City will be Willie Kirk’s side’s second time in a space of a year playing at Goodison Park, having hosted Chelsea in the 2019/20 FA Cup quarter-final in September 2020.

The Blues were victorious that day, beating Chelsea 2-1 and Club Captain Danielle Turner says the team cannot wait to be heading back to the Grand Old Lady.

“It’s great,” she told evertonfc.com. “All the girls were buzzing when we found out we were playing our opening game there and I’m sure all the new girls are excited for their first taste of Goodison!

“It’s a tough but really exciting start to the season. Manchester City are a fantastic side and one of the teams it is important we start taking points off if we are going to be successful.

“The FA Cup game at Goodison was one of the highlights of last season.

“It always feels that little bit more special playing at Goodison and hopefully it will be the same again.

“It has been such a long time without the fans, and we can’t wait for them to be back in the stadium.

“I’m sure they are itching to be back, too.

“Hopefully a lot of Evertonians will come down to support us on the day. We can’t wait!”

Everton Women recorded a resounding pre-season victory with a 6-1 triumph over Brighton at USM Finch Farm on Sunday.

Arguably the team’s best performance to date as they prepare for the new competitive season, goals came in from across the park.

The Blues started the game with a high press that did not stop until the final whistle.

The visitors did well to soak up pressure, but their efforts proved too tough a task as Everton found their breakthrough on 30 minutes.

Izzy Christiansen stepped up to take a free-kick on the right-hand side and whipped it into the box, where Megan Finnigan rose highest with a thundering header into the back of the net.

Five minutes later, the home side had their second as Nicoline Sørensen played the ball in from the corner flag and Toni Duggan applying the finishing touch low into the bottom right corner.

Sørensen continued her impressive pre-season form as she was on target for the third goal of the afternoon.

Kenza Dali’s flick on to the head of Duggan landed into the path of the Danish striker, who unleashed a powerful effort into the right-side of the net.

Brighton weren’t going down without a fight, though, and Lee Geum-min pulled one back on the stroke of half-time, curling an effort past Courtney Brosnan from close-range.

Into the second half and Everton picked up from where they left off and netted their fourth, seconds after the referee’s whistle.

Grace Clinton did well to deal with pressure at the corner flag before playing the ball back to Duggan on the left flank.

The England international had excellent vision and spotted the run of Christiansen on the far-side and put the ball on a plate for the midfielder who tapped the ball into the far corner.

Claire Emslie then came off the bench to add Everton’s fifth.

Dali played the ball into the box and although Finnigan's header was blocked, Scotland striker Emslie was on hand to convert the rebound.

Five minutes later, Emslie had her second, slotting home at the near post after being released by a through-ball from summer signing Aurora Galli.

An impressive performance from Willie Kirk's side, who next up face a trip to Sheffield United on Wednesday evening.

Luckily that Birmingham match is in there or those opening fixtures would be pure carnage.
