I always find the anti-monarchy stuff a bit weird to be honest.

They've got no power whatsoever, and are basically a tourist attraction and nice bit of tradition and history. They're also a consistently fantastic money spinner. The royal wedding alone for example, generated an extra £100m within London just on accommodation, travel and nightlife.

I haven't time to respond properly here mate but God it's the principle of it first and foremost.

Every man and woman should be born equal.

I couldn't give two hoots about their value to London tourism. I want them cast out of their palaces with half an hour to pack their belongings.

Smashing the monarchy would be the first step in correcting the major injustices of society.

I suppose I get to choose where to vote because I'm a student but the likelihood is that I will vote in Wavertree - purely because I'm likely to be there on the day.

I will assess my options nearer to the time, however, if I were to vote today then I would vote Green. I have little doubt that you could pin a Labour rosette to a donkey and they would win this seat, however the Greens are the most likely challengers - and have a wealth of interesting policies that are a bit less Tory than Labour. It is also the case that if the Greens were to be king-makers then they would most likely side with Labour anyhow. If UKIP emerged as challengers for this seat then I would likely vote Labour.

If I was to vote in Southport then I would face more of a conundrum. Labour and the Greens are not challengers up there. It is likely to be a choice between the Conservatives and the Lib Dems. On top of the seemingly obvious reasons to not vote Liberal, I have a fairly strong dislike of the serving Lib MP. I would likely vote Liberal anyway in a tactical move.

It's just the elitist injustice.

People are struggling to bring their children up and need help from the state, and there you have the Royal family, supposedly at the top of society with money to burn. Why? Not because they worked hard, but because they had the fortune of being born.

London doesn't need another £100m either! It sucks wealth into the M25.

That's nonsense. Sorry.

There's far greater inequality in the world for you to be annoyed about than a few people being born into a monarchy. It would be the first step to nothing of the sort, other than losing the government money and thus doing more harm to those at the bottom of society than good.

The whole country benefits from the existence of the royal family.

Getting rid of them would do nothing to help the people in society who are struggling.

I don't know how the Queen is benefiting me, I would be interested to know how you think this is the case.

I don't think it will change much for strugglers, it's still entirely unjust.

I honestly aint got time to debate this given I want to be at the match in my seat and not stuck on Queens Drive so I can't get into this properly BUT

You're asking a hypothetical question. Yes of course there are other major injustices but a majority arise from the premise of one element of society being better than another. The whole Tory Establishment is based on this.

It's not about money. It's about self-respect.

Already been explained.

- The government needs money to pay for things, like public services.

- The royal family cost the UK population something like 51p per head every year, if i recall correctly.

- They generate far more than that amount in revenues which go to the government to be spent on things, like public services.

- Without the royals there would be less money for the government to spend. It's pretty simple really.

Every modern government invariably has a structural deficit anyway, I doubt that they would spend much less without the royals.

The worst thing about the Monarchy is the press. When George was born I had to watch RT for a few days just to see what else of far more significance - such as Syria in that instance - was happening. No doubt we'll get the same in about 8 months time.

Another reason to hate the monarchy is we're all told to strive and work hard, yet there's a group of people born into this world who just sit on their arse all day and do nothing.
