....clear dividing lines, both looking after their own.

Indeed. Just dont agree with taxes based on the value of a house, be it the old rates, poll tax, or anything really. It doesnt make much sense to me. Should be on the ability to pay.

....ability to pay is fine if earnings and wealth are transparent for all, sadly that is not the case. I suspect that many of the tax and threshold announcements being highlighted in the last few weeks are vote catchers. I am pleasantly surprised that the Tory's aren't stretching away in the polls but that is my own personal opinion.

Think this is a very valid point. Do away with the lot and raise income tax.

For the 6/7th richest country in the world the one on the left during the Brown era is a disgrace nevermind the right hand side.

Benefit sanctions, the bedroom tax, zero hour contracts and a large number of new jobs being low paid have contributed to the dramatic increase. Not one policy from the tories to tackle this - instead they point to a 'booming economy'.

Did you know that Harriet Harman went to the same school as Osbourne. Yet one is described as posh and the other is not!

More big money clampdowns, fair play he's going for the jugular on tax avoidance (In the process raising billions which im sure will be used elsewhere in Monday's manifesto)

Absolutely a great headline but what is not explained is the reality . Even if all was reviewed, legislation would than have to be passed to change all the rules, it could not be retrospective. IT would take about 2 to 3 years to see any dividend from this action. The action would be extremely welcome however whilst waiting for finds to come in where do you get the money from to meet the spending commitment. It is the same for the mansion tax that would take at least two years to see any return on that. Really should explain better to the voters.

Nonsense there are many folk who are just well off without being millionaires. Look at many folk, ordinary folk who have lived in houses for a long time and which have gone up in value because of demand and desirabilty who are not rich in cash terms but asset rich. Add to that those folk who started from sod all but through hard work have built themselves up why should they be punished?

Where are these descriptions?

The post you were quoting was describing top jobs in the UK being dominated by those who are privately educated. I think the fact that Harman and Osbourne are both privately educated and hold positions in the cabinet and shadow cabinet proves that point?

Of course, but there has always been the sniping of posh directed at Osbourne and Cameron in the papers and political, how many times does one hear of them looking after their own.

Could be right Roydo but how many would truly own up in all honesty how much money they have?
