'THANKS' ?

The Irony that the general footballing public are seeing though, is that their false allegations are making the 'Always The Victims' song, absolutely bang on the nail.

They have committed to many sins now for the neutral to believe a word they say, a reason that the rest of the country used to roll their eyes about Hillsborough (many have apologised and admitted that they quite simply DID NOT believe the Liverpool Supporters claims).

Should we be so outraged at 'just a song' though ?

well in the context of it I think Yes, someone mentioned they could've used He Aint Heavy, well i think they couldve used a touch more imagination than that, they have after all a number of prominent singer/songwriter supporters. Or would they risk choking on their own words, unable to even utter anything positive in the direction of Everton.

Maybe we shouldve sang "You aint Bitter.... But Your ****ter."

but they are bitter, demonstrated mostly by their heroic captain

Lets not sully all of them because of the vitriol and hate of a significant percentage. I strongly suspect the families and the associated campaigners will have been greatly let down by Liverpool football club and said percentage of associated supporters. And the mindless drivel that Mr Aldridge drones on with every week isnt worth the oxygen of publicity - he will get filled in eventually, and hopefully by someone that knows how to do significant permanent harm (never forgive or forget his gloating about Lampards mother dying).
As far as the two "100% reds through and through like" they were getting a few digs in before and after the game because one of them is retiring and wont get the opportunity again and the other one is quickly following him - a bit of aggro and banter is expected from players on both sides - we gloried in Duncan and Cahill carrying the fight to them and they enjoy their ilk carrying on Benitez' "small clubs" propaganda.

For the campaigners, the families and the memories of the 96 - our support will never waver, respect will always be paid and the hurt will never be extinguished.
For the hooligans, the criminals and the cowards of their support - they will continue to denegrate their once great club and its traditions and so further alienate themselves from society both sporting and day to day until they clean their act up and address their total lack of humility and responsibility.

Sadly a minority that would have been a shambles at the nurnberg trials have elbowed their way into the spotlight for what should have been a moment of unity and solidarity across merseyside in rememberance for the worst footballing tragedy this country has ever known. Heres hoping they are as proud of themselves as they boast at being.

good post, i can see what you're saying but there is a world of difference between timmy and dunc bringing the fight to them and gerrard and carragher "bringing the fight". They don't bring it to US, they're too cowardly to do that, they just berate the ref for the full 90 mins and pressurize them into making mistakes. When you look at the derbies over the years those two have been playing and how many dubious decisions they've gotten over us you can see my point.

with those two out of the fixture and kuyt in the next few years, i'm hoping for a blue dominance because the game will be purely down to the better team not the most unsportsmanlike "team"

That was my round about point, Cahill, Dunc did their bit on the pitch playing the actual game - not chatting up referees and influencing decisions. Furthermore I was referencing the 'playing for a draw' 'good result for Everton its what they came for' Benitez style propaganda. The two of them trying to stick the boot in even though its looking very much like they'll finish below us again.
Lets just get on with it, 6th place trophy might not mean so much but secretly they'd flog their own mothers to be able to gloat about finishing above us. As far as the 'thanks' goes it means the world coming from the families and campaigners - but from the rest it means less than very little.

Great post. Playing YNWA was a massive error in judgement. It doesn't really come off as a sincere thank you, why not just play he ain't heavy? Or the Justice Collective version?

Naturally it was going to annoy Evertonians and IMO made it all about LFC as opposed to it being for the families of the 96 and EFCs continued support.

As for Aldo's allegations, until there is a video or something then there's no substance to them at all. I've been going to Everton games for half of my existence and not once have I ever heard a song insulting the Hillsborough incident. I do think some fans need to bail with 'murderers' and I'm not a massive fan of 'always the victim'. The latter is in response to stuff like Suarez though, so I guess it's not as bad and anyone who confuses it for a dig at Hillsborough also needs to bail.

The worst thing for me now is not those bell ends with their accusations (which you expect off many of them because they're low life scum); that's been surpasseed now by a local media that's just shat on us from a great height by printing this rubbish in their worthless rag. That Pearce freak's piece is still on their site and the editor wont or daren't act against it, and then we have 'Everton reporter' and 'good lad' O'Keeffe basically leaving it unchallenged (and no doubt the other part of the dire double act Prentice is of the same mind). So, from the weeks of coverage about how Everton and Liverpool have bridged the gap and it's been the Hilsborough issue that's brought us all together again, the Echo are allowing the underlining of a vicious lie to demolish that state of affairs. If anyone ever had any regard for those [Poor language removed] at that paper it must surely be destroyed now.

Our club NEED to release a statement denouncing the Aldridge slight.

If they don't it could appear to outsiders that there was truth in his Twitter comments.

The club needs to support its fans.

The club basically sell the Echo for it, and they are Everton's commercial partners with the magazine. I'd say that gives them a firm basis for picking up the phone and demanding that action be taken on Pearce and Aldridge. Or maybe Everton dont think its supporters being attacked is any business of theirs?

Far to often our club meekly takes whatever others throw at it. Being dignified is one thing, letting lies being spouted and ignoring them thus damaging the image of the club is quite another.

Worse case scenario is that certain fans take 'action' of their own. No-one wants to see that. If the club let this pass without comment they will have let us fans down badly.

Z cars at Anfield.

Any blue who buys the echo should give there head a wobble. It has always sided with those whoppers from across the park and it doesn't even try to hide the fact.

Years ago they laid off slating Evertonians for all kinds of nonsense because local Evertonians business men who advertise in the echo got together and threatened to stop using the rag. I see they are back to there old ways .

It is a farce

Very much this.

I'd buy "The Sun" before buying the echo these days.

Not even joking.

Great post Reidy.

Imagine what it would be like if every caller to the City phone-in raised the matter one after another, after another, after another....

For weeks on end - into next season.

what's the relevance nev ?

I remember that well, have always thought it was a lovely touch and a great tribute to a little lost soul and will never forget it.

they'd put a delay on and nobody would make it to air.

They'd call up Aldo or Davey Fairclough and he'd point the finger at the nasty blues, which would make it FACT and anyone saying any different would be just bitter. Five Stars, St Etienne, YAWN.

Start off on something else and then just raise it - they would constantly be cutting off blues
