I couldn't care less about going so it certainly isn't envy.

If his 5yo is capable of understanding all the nuances of a football match then fair enough. I was 5 when we lost to Utd in the 85 final. Do I remember that day? Not a bit of it.

This kid might be able to say in years to come 'I was there' but that ticket could've easily been taken by someone who truly understands the event and its significance.

Hahaha not jealous though

I'm taking my lad. He's not 7 till the end of the month but I can honestly say I'm looking forward to seeing his face when he gets in the ground a lot more than anything else about the day. You never know when the next chance to go back might be.
absolutely brilliant . Seems to be bitter and twisted people on here. What you and i do is bring memories to ourselves and our kids. No.onevwill spoilt that...its called being a proper parent. Hope you and your boy have a great day

Waste of a ticket is a bit harsh, a young lad going to wembley with his ald fella, priceless that.
Ok, I'll retract the waste of a ticket line with an apology to the poster. I can see that it's an event for the dad probably more so than the lad, and that's fair enough.

I was taken to the 87 Charity Shield when I was 7. Don't remember anything about the game, though I do recall asking my dad how long was left about a million times. I'm sure it was a cracking day to remember for my dad though...

Your entitled to your opinion..granted.Bit harsh but thats your opinion. My lad loves it..i love it..nothing more than having my boy next to me with his season ticket..and watching his face going to the ground and seeing all our supporters...listening to him sing grand ole team...watching him cheer when Ross name is called out.Watching him being excited putting on his everton top .. for the match...listening to him say Daddy...thank you..i love the match. listening and watching him point out other kids with there dads...look Dad....another Dad n Lad at the match. Memories that last forever...Watching him of a morning cross out on the calendar the amount of sleeps left for Wembley......waste of a ticket?? id have paid thousands for a ticket for him....to get these memories...priceless.

Cheers mate. I'm sure we will, same to you and yours. Just hope the next generation of blues get to see the success ours has been starved of.

We're going to get on in town to have a few pints somewhere before we get picked up

Off the floor or...... I think your best getting smashed before the game, given our recent form im not too sure if I can watch the game sober !

I'm going with Terry's Tours, coaches look sound, can take ale and there's a bog!! Which is a godsend, see ya there lids!!

I don't think understanding football is necessarily beyond the understanding of young children. I understood the concept of winning and losing by the time I was five, and I understood that the winner was determined by who scored the most goals. I didn't have a ticket, but I can remember throwing a proper wobbler when we lost the 1989 cup final and I was only five years old back then lol

I'm not sure how old I was when I learned about throw-ins and corners but I wasn't old at all. I was at Goodison and asked my dad why people were shouting 'Our Ball!' when the ball went out for a throw-in? His explanation wasn't difficult to grasp. Understanding the offside rule came a bit later, but I wasn't old, would have been about 7 or 8.
