Was listening toTalksport this morning and what absolute rubbish those melts speak - moral outrage - they had Stan Collymore on being all moral, self rightous and disgusted at Terry - Stan Collymore ffs - what a belter he was and that before you even begin to mention car parks of certain ex gladiator host!

It’s been a bad week for a certain UK football player, and from what we hear things may be about to get worse.

Sources are telling us a major UK newspaper will be running a story on Sunday claiming that he’s been placing bets on football matches, which is apparently against FIFA rules. If this turns out to be true the player could be banned from the sport for life.

Hinting at Terry, obviously. Very likely a pile of [Poor language removed] but since the topic is here it's worth a mention.

just so we're clear, bridge and the french girl were not together at the time of the affair right? i know she's the mother of his child and all, but if they're not attached then i don't see why bridge can claim to have been wronged here. its definitely a personal matter within Terry's family, his captaincy should have nothing to do with that.

The girl wasn't fair game because 1. she was attached to Terry's former club and international team mate, and 2. He's married with Twin daughters.

1.) attached how? correct me if i'm wrong but from reading the reports it doesn't look like Bridge and the girl were together at the time. If they weren't together, it surely doesn't mean that just because they have a kid together she's permanently off limits to all professional footballers does it?
2) I don't care if he's married with a million children, that a matter for John Terry and his family to deal with, its none of my business and its certainly none of yours either. i'm not condoning cheating on his wife, but as its been mentioned other england internationals have partaken in morally dubious behavior so that should be no reason to lose the captaincy.

the only reason i could see capello justifiably stripping Terry of his captaincy for is if he directly upset the atmosphere in the locker room to a substantial extent, in which case as its been said he should be dropped form the squad all together. if he wronged a teammate, i would understand this, but since bridge and the french girl weren't together at the time, i really don't see the problem.

I think there's more to this....More stories are breaking daily, about Terry's infidelity, and general off-the-field sausaging activities. The media explosion is bound to affect his form, and most probably have a knock-on effect on the England team morale.

You could also draw a parallel with this incident and the USA team prior to the 98 world cup. The then USA coach dropped his captain, harkes, just before the world cup, when he was caught having an affair with Eric Wynald's wife.

The USA team went on to lose all 3 of their opening games in that tournament, so a good indicator of how such an incident can affect a team. So therefore I believe he's done the right thing by dropping Terry, now rather than later when this could be so much more damaging.

he hasn't been dropped though, he's still on the team, he's merely not captain any longer, and i think being stripped of captaincy is bound to upset his ability to play more than his captaincy would have upset team chemistry. the harkes incident was very different too imo, because wynald and his wife were still married at the time.
