Would you welcome them back? I liked standing, it was a good laugh at the games and cut it out all this sitting down standing up crap each time the action ended up at your end.

I'm too short to be able to see anything when everyone is standing up so I would have to go somewhere where there were still seats.
I like being in the Lower Gwladys for the atmosphere but I wouldnt fancy standing up.
I'd be happy enough to move I suppose. As long as we had a choice, can't see the problem. It's not for me though, too short and too old!

One POSSIBLE downside would be that the standing area, almost certainly behind the goal, would become a zone for the more vociferous and boisterous fans, just as it was in the 60's, 70's and 80's.
No problem with being vocal and boisterous per se but would that area end up becoming a no-go area for youngsters, families and dare I say it, women?

We all have choices and if bad language offends then move away but the great thing about GP at the moment is that despite getting on in years, being female and from a relatively sheltered background;) , I feel comfy being anywhere in the ground. It certainly wasnt like that 30 years ago. You went to the match expecting trouble of some description.
It would be a shame to potentially create no go areas but I can see the attraction of the standing/singing area.

With the PC/H&S brigade all powerful though, it will take a miracle to get it past those who are afraid of every potential incident becoming a lawsuit!

I remember one of my first games at Goodison was in the terraces. I was only 6 or 7 but I remember LOTS OF PEOPLE!!!

Isn't Keith Wyness a fan of the terraces and wants to reintroduce a section for standing only.

Its never going to happen though. The fear of Hillsborough is too much for anyone to take the decision.

Terraces didn't kill anyone, it was the fencing that caused the majority of the problems, if the fans could have spilled onto the pitch then there would have been less deaths, not discounting that some would have still died through the actions of the police and fans in the tunnel.

I wouldn't mind putting standing areas back into the game, alternatively you could have seating/standing like they do in the cheap areas of Italian games. Concrete seating, no plastic seats. At the start of the match you can get a seat to eat your Pie and Bovril then stand on it to watch the match.

it would be amazing if the new stadium had about 5,000 spaces for terracing. new goodison would really be rocking. there is no reason why they can't be implemented safely.

TBH it was great when I was younger. I notice some baseball grounds undertaking a limited look into terrace assignments these days. Seems to me you can get a little more excitment while in a upright position at the game. I think it has it place and should be welcomed back under certain circumstances.

Did you used to go in the Gwladys St when it was terracing when you were younger? Did you have your own spec like some did?

Id like them, gives people a chance for people to watch the match for cheaper, increases the attendance aswell, which will increase the atmosphere. We can go bakc to having 70,000 at the derby again...

i reckon the authorities might be pushing for 5k seats to be turned into 5k standing, to ensure public safety blah blah blah.

no club would write off a big piece of viewing area.

this is a case of ergonomics and stewarding/policing.
