Moyes is at it again today, saying that we're going to have to do a major rebuilding job because we've got such an ageing side and that he'll probably have to sell to buy. Horsesh*t!

Ossie and Hibbo are only just 30 too.

Distin and Saha are out of contract at the end of the season. If we recalled Yobo he's only 30 himself or I'm sure that we could pick up a third choice centreback on a loan or bosman. Salomon Kalou is 26 and available for free in the summer to replace Saha.

Craig Gordon is 29 and is out of contract in the summer. He could be Howard's eventual successor.

So we'd need to replace Neville and Cahill. Surely we can manage to do that without selling off Rodwell or another of our major assets.

I like Craig Gordon. He was a £9m+ goalkeeper until injuries halted his career. If he's going to get as much game time as Mucha anyway, then it doesn't really matter who we have on the bench. I wouldn't call it planning for the future though that Moyes has a 33 year old, a 28 year old and a 39 year old in his goalkeeping department. We could do with bringing that age group down.
 
Never mind the age of the squad, we need to rebuild because it is horribly imbalanced, lacks quality in key areas and yields us teams who are slow and predictable in the main. Wonder if he'll go for younger versions of what he's got though?
 

Sorry, while I agree the job of rebuilding is not a major over haul I can not see your logic in having a front two of Straqualirsi and Mcfadden. Both are not up to the standard required so, there are two positions that need replacing.
Drenthe has to be signed first so it is another place that needs to be filled, Billy is all but gone and will (and always has) need to be replaced. The worst suggestion of the lot though has to be Mucha.

I would like to say though, to your credit, you have not filled up the team with youngsters that although talented can not be seen as replacements for experianced proffesional footballers.

Oddly enough I don't doubt Moyes ability to 'over haul' this squad, I would doubt his ability to choose the right players from that squad to play on a Saturday but I'm just a fan and have not put the hardwork in to become a manager in the modern game and for that reason I'll let Moyes do as he wants....
 

No overhaul needeed IMO. Just play the effing kids and stop playing the oldies.

Neville and Cahill shouldn't be playing week in week out. Distin can take being a bench warmer at 34. Saha is done.

All we need is a striker. Sadly that means flogging a Rodwell etc to buy one.

Billys leaving in Jan I would be suprised if Drenthe stays past his loan spell

If Mcfadden and Straq are going to be our front 2 we might aswell give up now

We also need a playmaker to replace Arteta

So thats a Center Mid,Left Winger,Right Winger and two strikers at the very least
