Teachers' Strike!

There seems to be some sort of misunderstanding and people seem to think that all teachers are lazy and the ratio of pay to work is well off.

Well you'd be completely wrong in saying that.

Bruce, in answer to your earlier quesion about planning, you'd be amazed at how often things change. We'rew about to adopt a new curruculum, of course, so there will be significant amounts of replanning come September but there are also innitiatives like The Literacy Strategy, the Numeracy Strategy, The Literacy New Framework the Numeracy Framework, QCA Units etc plus the natural changing of topics over time plus the fact that in primary, depending on the school's policy, everything may be replanned every year due to a commitment to "the creative curriculum.

I'd also add that every class is different and new resources are constantly becoming available so one needs to at least adapt existing plans on a yearly basis.

Tbh, though, the majority of non contact time is spent marking and assessing rather than planning.

Assume that a class of 30 kids produce two written pieces of work a day. Take three minutes on each piece. That's 30 x 2 x 3 x 5 for the weekly marking. 900 minutes. 15 Hours. Just marking.
