  • We should have won that. Their goal was a gift, and Beckford had a good late chance, Fellaini also showed the same lack of awareness and could have had Beckford in too. Good point? No. Chelsea were woeful. We were, yet again, our own biggest enemy.
  • Distin is just exceptional. I know I say it a lot, but I feel I have too because when he makes an error he gets pounced on like a 3 legged antelope in a lion cage. The man is exceptional, and when it comes to pure defensive ability, he outclasses even Lescott imo. Pace, power, nouse and he's always aware of what's around him.
  • Baines is, without a shadow of a doubt, our best player. He's been my favourite for some time, but yet again today he shows his class. I honestly don't have the words to describe just how accomplished a footballer he is.
  • Howard... Oh lord. Another few clangers, dropping the ball. Luckily they went unpunished, but yet again he's looked shaky.
  • Beckford. I've faith in this guy now. Because he's clearly got it all, in terms of ability. He just needs to add more to his game, which will come with more experience in the PL. By that I mean he's not as assured as a top PL striker, and he doesn't bring others into play when he's near goal, he just opts to shoot, in a panic. If he sticks his head up a bit more, he could be quite the player. He's already shown a big improvement since signing, so long may that continue.
  • Fellaini's a beast. You look at say, Heitinga, by comparison and the difference is staggering. Heitinga will win the ball, but not only will he win it less than Felli, but Heitinga doesn't have the calmness to pick out a player. He'll head it anywhere, whereas Felli will bring it onto his chest and either play a good pass, or run with it until he can.
  • Saha. I'll give a tenner to anyone who'll either shoot him, or saw his legs off, because Moyes seemingly will never lose faith in that washed up piece of crap. He's an embarrassment to the shirt.
  • Speaking of the shirt, that white one is just classy. It makes up for the pink abomination, for sure. It's just a cream dream, and I'd be lying if I said the sight of Distin in it didn't give me a semi.

All in all, I'm glad we didn't lose, but we yet again have ourselves to blame. Sunderland went out, and had at that Chelsea team. They won 3-0. We gifted them a goal, and up until then -- and for a while afterwards -- we just played it defensive, like some kind of lower league team in awe of the champions.

But they were poo, and thankfully we did go for it eventually, but due to already being behind and not being as clinical as we should have, I'm going to say that's 2 points dropped. We could have had them, then. We could have had them.

It is good to see the MoFro back to his dominating self. Just much better than Heitinga in every way. He was one of three players on the team that stood out for me, the others being Distin and the automatic MotM Baines.

I am still torn on Beckford. He makes great runs and will put himself in dangerous positions and then he will send it into the 20th row or screww up a 1 on 1. While it was nice to see a striker actually score a goal, his goal is more of a product of Baines and Cahill. Most of the players on the team would have buried that ball (except for Saha). I still don't think he should be a starting striker for a European contender, but he seems to be our best option currently thanks to Saha's form.

Those jerseys were also fantastic. Does anyone know if they had been displayed before the season started or did Everton realize what an eyesore the pink jerseys are? Either way they need to wear them more often.

You said everything i would mate, compleatley agree with all of that delighted for Beckford been saying it all week we have a player on our habds here and no mistake.

Distin was great today. He's slowly but surely winning people over by putting in solid performances without the squeeky bum defending.

Although i will say he wasn't too aware of what was around him against sunderland when he was a yard too far forward allowing Welbeck space to score his first. Might not seem a lot and i'm not having a go, just pointing out his positioning cost us a goal.

And Howard is damn lucky we aren't all calling for his head tonight, made 2 handling errors today and is lucky he wasn't punished so people aren't talking about them like they would if we conceded from them.

I think it should be seen as a point won rather than two lost. They put some real pressure on us in the first half - and in fits and starts in the second - but we held firm (apart from Neville's balls up). You have to show character in a game like that against what are, when all is said and done, the Champions of England on their own patch. We scrapped very well for the right to earn 20 minutes or so of time to exert pressure on them at the end of the game.

Yea he has been shaky.. Not sure where this lack of confidence has come from. Can't blame him for the Goal, though he looked like a deer in headlights. Anelka was drawing the pen from minute one. Doubt Mucha is the answer but I'm willing to have a look for a couple games.

Cheers Neiler mate.

I think this thread surpassed the 20 minute rule (by over 3 hours...), so I was worried I'd posted a load of tosh!

Despite Neiler blaming him for not catching the common cold he is usually reliable for us even if he could do better in some situations.

But this season it has been out and out mistakes, some have cost us some haven't.

Whether its lack of confidence, just poor form, if there's something happening behind the scenes, or he knows he won't be dropped we just don't know.

I have to admit when i saw the ref give the penalty today my first thought wasn't that we were gonna go down to 10 men but that we were gonna see what Mucha could do for 3 and a bit games.

Its a tough decision though, i don't blame Moyes for sticking with Tim but its got to the stage now where i wouldn't mind seeing Mucha get a run, he can't be that bad.

Benching keepers is not the same as benching field players. You better be damn sure if you sit Howard down, that Mucha is better because you risk shattering a keepers confidence if you bench him. Howard has been not his usual self this year, no one doubts that. But he's still the best we've got and he's still a better option than most of the keepers in the PL. He's not the only one on the squad who is facing a crisis of confidence this year. There's a lot of that going around.

The centre of midfield had a bit of ZING for the first time in ages.

Still think Billy needs more than 8-10 minutes every once in a while though, he put 2-3 decent balls in the box and played a nice choice to MoFro who could have done better.

This type of game is not for Seamus, yet...I think fair play to Moyes though for putting him, Rodwell and Fellaini in midfield, they (along with Pienaar who is naturally springy) had alot of energy in them yesterday that REALLY helped, I thought.

That's a good point. The average age of those three is about 22. Even if you factor in Cahill and Pienaar, the average age is still only about 24 and a half.

Aceness. We have a decent young team.

Some other points.

Rodwell is letting his hair grow, oo-err!

I also thought that Distin was exceptional, him and Jags compliment each other as Distin is so strong and present in the air and the best part about Jags' game is his recovery.

Couple more clean sheets please!
