David Moyes has spoke of the "brilliant" relationship he has built with chairman Bill Kenwright amid fresh rumours of a takeover bid at Goodison.
Everton fan sites Toffeeweb.com and NSNO.co.uk have been a hive of activity over the last few days at the news of American investors, previously thought to be interested in a Liverpool bailout, now turning their attention to the Blues.
But Moyes told Everton fans to be careful what they wish for in a revealing interview with the Sunday Mail he said: "Some guy might come in and want things too quickly."
"He might not want me. Might not know what running a club is about."
In a season where transfer funds and squad sizes have made a marked difference between the top and bottom clubs, Moyes was keen to stress that stability, not extravagance has been key in Kenwright's running of the club.
He said: "My chairman has been brilliant. He's desperate to give me £20m or £30m but having money doesn't always work."
Everton sit around mid-table in terms of wages paid out each season, and Moyes was happy to point out the fact that the quality of his squad, not the cost of it, has made all the difference.
"I'm also fortunate to have good players. Cahill has been with me from the start while Arteta is playing as well as any Premiership midfielder."
Both players were instrumental in the Blues' last gasp victory over Fulham at the weekend.
Everton now face an almost impossible task in achieving European football next season, after both Aston Villa and Liverpool won on Sunday.
