Think a lot of dirty washing is going to be aired out publicly in the summer, he's clearly not happy and is now just waiting until he's released so he can let rip.

He's had his ups and downs but I liked him overall, his trolling of the kopites on twitter was very amusing. Just it got to the point like it did with Neville, where he was so old and bad that EVERY single game he played in he was nothing but a massive hindrance to his team-mates. I'd have liked to have parted ways with him under nicer circumstances but I guess that's just life.

Will be interesting to hear his point of view when he does speak out, something has very clearly gone wrong between Martinez and the senior players this season and we as supporters deserve to know what it's all about.

It is hard to understand why he didn't take the opportunity to go out on loan in January.
I wouldn't be surprised if he just retires.

People are acting like he was crap for 3 years, like Neville.

He was great last season. Only played what? The first 1/3 of this season? The first 1/4?

I'd say he was 'binned' pretty quickly.

Great last year, decent the year before after a horrible start, terrible this.

He hasn't been here for 3 seasons. That makes it look like he's been crap for most of his tenure.

Had a shaky first season (actually only the first half of that, was settling at the end).
Then 4 good-very good seasons.
Then this (portion of a) season.

He, for some reason, has always had his 'Dustbin' detractors and they came out of the woodwork very, very quickly after being piped down for years.

He prides himself on his professionalism, but can't handle criticism. I've heard what happened that culminated after Swansea and it wasn't a surprise - given the fella wanted to fight with a fan in the Gwladys because of a Twitter exchange and fronted away Everton fans at Crystal Palace.

He also didn't turn up for training and regularly squabbles/chip on shoulder with players. There's some truth in this.

That aside. He has never been a player who any club with any serious top 4 aspirations should have starting regularly at centre half.

Played Hundreds of games in the premier league, fitter, faster, stronger and more reliable than most centre halves playing the same amount of games as he has, shame this season he has been poor. Then again he werent the only one. Will go with my gratitude for what little its worth, when we signed him after Lescott i thought we lost the plot but he has been solid for most of his tenure.

I didn't expect Martinez as one to be holding such deep grudges. Seems like he's done a Mancini-Tevez scenario with Distin only difference is he hasn't shed any light on why he isn't included ever since Swansea. He's had 4 really good seasons with us and certainly deserved a better end to his Everton/professional career. Wouldn't be surprised if he signs for a newly promoted club for a year to be a bit part experienced player.

Oh, without a shadow of doubt. Funnily enough, though, what he airs might actually give the fans some answers about the season we've had.

Meh he's an employee that can't perform his job properly any more. We got our money's worth easily and it's time for him to move on to somewhere that either doesn't rely on the centre backs being able to pass and control a ball or retire

Amazing really. A 20 year career of hard work and exemplary professionalism ignored over faith in Martinez? The same man most wanted gone throughout the season?

I don't know what's gone on. All I know, and so all I'll judge, is him as a player. He was poor this season (though not as poor as Jags was in the same period) but has otherwise been an outstanding player for us and a top pro.
All of this.

I am quite astounded at the number of people wilfully ignoring the bit underlined and in italics though - anyone who says otherwise needs to re-watch the 6 - 3 loss to Chelsea.
