I would like to see Lukaku dropped and Eto'o played up front. It may be the kick up the ass he needs, and at least we will have him to bring on as an impact player, which has proven beneficial in the past. I'm pretty sure, at times in the match, I noticed players reluctant to pass the ball to Rom especially when he had his back to goal. Don't think they have any confidence in his ability to hold the ball up or make a decent pass.

end of the day it's one more point on the board, not the result we wanted but it's better than a defeat.
Mcgeady keeps getting better and better, mccarthy is immense,

rom was 50/50 for me, he scores that chance and people would be praising him for a great performance,

is it just me or does coleman offer very little threat playing behind mcgeady? thought he was much better with osman ahead of him, wierd that

McGeady plays more wide thus limiting space for Coleman to run into, I like McGeady but we should be getting him narrower when he plays. Maybe slightly less effective but Coleman is the more dangerous of the 2.

Honestly have a feeling Martinez has no idea who he thinks his best team is atm. The whole squad looks disjointed. Look at how boss Ross looked the couple times he was playing through the middle. If you are going to play Lukaku, Ross and Eto'o, it needs to be as a 2 striker front with Ross behind.

That might be a result of the improved quality of the squad. It's not like we have a cast-iron starting XI (well, the players move like they're made of iron) and a bunch of stiffs on the subs' bench.
Still, not a memorable performance today. I know it's tough to get motivated to play at the likes of Sunderland on the heels of a European game, but professionals should be able to find a way.

...all a bit pedestrian for me, we only stepped up the tempo when they scored. Playing without a lot of width meant we tried to walk it in through the middle, difference later on when Coleman started getting around the back. I thought Lukaku's performance was frustrating, the ball is precious away from home and he has to do better to keep hold of it.

Bit of a silly foul by Baines considering the quality Larson has and his pen went in without being convincing. We got what we deserved and need to create more to turn draws into wins. McCarthy again the best for me, he's got a hammy and will probably miss 3 weeks, I fear we might not see Barry for a while.

btw guys I know lukaku was poor but I am more disappointed with eto'o , simply because he was not in the box at all today, do we expect him to score wonder goals outside the box every game???

This is probably the formation Bobby's thinking to play in the next game:

......................................Naismith.........................
Barkley.....Coleman......................Lukaku............Distin

........................Eto........Mcgeady..............................

............Distin................Jagielka................Baines

..............................Howard/Barry(if he's fit)

Everyone out of position, you guessed it right.

why's he playing distin twice ffs

tbh We are crap, ref or no we should be beating these easily and we are not.

lukaku was beyond crap today, shouldn't be playing Thurs and again on Sunday obviously can't hack it.

Gibson was a terrible sub should of Been besic, the amount of time he needlessly gave the ball away or just missed simple passes was ridiculous.

Osman should never have been subbed on you need to be either quick or strong for that match and he was neither. atsu would of been my choice.

same thing happening over and over isn't it and martinez is doing sod all about it. It's games like these that separate the good from the grate and that's it. It was a carbon copy of how Swansea played and it will be the same with all but the top eight clubs.

martinez needs to do something about it because we are poor this season and it needs aaddressing quickly.
