All I would say is there nothing wrong with optimism, but please don't get carried away with expectations of a summer spending spree....this is Everton we're talking about.

Given that I'm convinced we'll be in Europe at some capacity next year, I think Roberto will provide some real bargains in the summer. He has his pulse on the Spanish and South American markets, and he's shown his acumen in the past when it comes to finding decent players on the cheap. We'll really need to fill out the squad with numbers, so I predict one signing over 10m and a handful of <5m squad players that will turn out quite useful. I'm optimistic like.

We don't really need squad players. We need players who will come in and replace what we already have in the starting or eleven or at least be as good so as to challenge for places.

A 15 goal a season striker is a necessity, as is a creative midfielder. I'd be happy if we brought those two signings in coupled with a pair of loans and no big outgoings, along with Barry on a permanent deal. That should be perfectly achievable considering the lack of reinvestment in the past two windows and increased revenues.

I think the key is that we don't rely on loan players to make up our starting eleven. They should be used to supplement an already strong lineup, not to make it strong to begin with.
