We will need a minimum of 30-40m spend to really challenge for for the top 4 assuming that the others strengthen/address their weaknesses too, sadly don't think we've got anywhere near that to spend
Striker is what we can't take any risk about, need to get someone in we can be sure adapts well, Lukaku or Benteke, both know the league, both slot for fun and are young and only gonna improve, thats gonna wipe out the transfer kitty assuming we have that much which is a big IF
got the feeling we will try grab someone from spain to fill that creative role, like the young lad from valencia etc, tadic i'd love but don't see us getting a striker having the money for him especially if we do spend on a proven striker like, maybe barry on a free of wages can get sorted, and maybe some punt on some young lad who marty feels has what it takes etc, need a cb to add depth be the long term replacement for jags etc but doubt thats a urgent thing compared to a few other areas, still think were gonna sell mirrales in the summer though, just feel he will be used to help martinez shape the squad more the way he wants - more likely if delefeou is once again loaned to us i think

In order of priority, I'd like:
- Two new strikers: One to be a Lukaku-eqsue player that is quick, strong, can hold the ball up and finish well. The other needs to be even quicker, have good control and finishing, like Aguero.
- A new CM: We have never replaced Arteta. We need a playmaker. Barry and McCarthy are good for retaining the ball, but we need someone who can spot a run and play the ball though. That's the real source of our lack of goals.
- A new winger: Pienaar needs to be a bench player from next season onwards. Gil? I don't know.
- A new CB: It's not possible to say when Distin will need replacing, because he seems to ignore the rule of being crap once you hit your mid-thirties. However, we do still need someone who can break into the first team and become our main paring with Stones eventually.
- A new goalkeeper: Howard has had his best season for a while, but he'll only have one or two more left. Martinez obviously disagrees, but like many people, I don't think Joel will make it. Maybe get Mashall from Cardiff? He seems boss.

Regardless of Europe or not we need to spend 40 mill to either progress to 4th or help the squad in Europe. First we need a striker lukaku is perfect as we know what he's about and this is the position we should spend the most money on. Next we need a creative midfield from what I have heard and seen tadic would be great as he can play both wing and attacking midfield but I can see him fetching 10-12mill. This leaves 10 million to get a centre back like Bruno martins and a loan winger and another loan striker to bulk the squad up

Even with the new instalment of tv money in the summer, I'd be very surprised if we had more than £20-25m to spend before sales next season?!.
I know we sold Felli (£25m once we gave Standard there cut of the profit), Vic (£4m upfront) & Jelavic (£7.5m cos lets face it, Hull are staying up so we'll get all the fee) for good amounts but a big cut of all that went on McCarthy, Barry and Lukaku.
I know some will say McCarthy wasn't dependant on Fellaini leaving but come on, do you really believe that. And with the way the night went on deadline day, we signed McCarthy for the full £13m AFTER Felli left!.
By all accounts we paid £3m to take Lukaku on loan but im not sure wether that covers just his loan or wages on top?. And apparently were paying the majority, if not all of Barry's wages aswell. I read all in all weve paid between £5-6m to take Barry on loan?!.
So you do the maths. £13m for McCarthy + say £5m for Barry + £3m for Lukaku = £21m.
Take that away from what we got for Fellaini £25m, Jelavic £7.5m & Anichebe £4m which is £36.5m - £21m = £15.5m.
I think the board will put up £10m of the tv money again, unless were in Europe and Kenwright pushes the boat out, and that will leave us with atleast £25m+ to spend come the summer.
But we all know things don't quite go like that at Everton so don't be surprised if we have less than £25m to spend?!!
