I'd take Ben Arfa in a heartbeat.
He's got the smell of an R. R Drenthe about him.

On that note, has anyone got opinions on Sevilla's Kevin Gameiro?
We were linked with him on a deadline day when he played for Lorient. I remember an Evertonian angrily posting that he couldn't find any news on the Leyton Orient website, as he frantically searched for confirmation of our latest BS late night target.

*lol*

Maybe legs in the Andrew Robertson link though as Martinez was at a Dundee United match a few months ago. 20 years old and just been awarded young player of the year up there.

With Baines approaching 30, maybe this lad will be brought in to compete with Oviedo in the coming years.

Look at Remy as an exception to that rule of thumb, while Giroud hasn't done bad (although he's nothing special for me) Lacazette is a very good player and a top young talent, but wouldn't be suited to a team that plays 1 up top like we do. He'd be better at Liverpool or Arsenal, as much as I hate to say that.
Gamiero was on fire a few years ago, but hasn't set either the French or Spanich leagues alite since. He's a decent impact sub, but I reckon if we're looking at anyone from abroad as our 1st choice striker (writhin our price range) it should be Carlos Bacca. £9mil. Buy-out clause and would suit RM's system to a tee. Him and Batshuayi (the 'gamble') would be decent I think, although I'd prefer Rom or Bony but both seem unrealistic at this point.
Yep remy is the main exeption, not that guy that scores 30 goals in 30 games and is pfa player of the year.

Not seen much of carlos bacca is he any good?

Slow start at Sevilla but grew into being at a bigger European club pretty quickly, and has scored 21 and has 12 assists so far.

Powerful and pretty quick, clever finisher who gets into great positions. Good link up play and very good hold up play. Would be a decent acquisition at around 10mil. if possible. If combined with a younger striker who has different attributes (Batshuayi - for example) would be a good addition.

Thanks for that mate, just be having a look at his wiki page and he seems to have scored goals every where he has been can see us going for somebody like this coz I think lukaku is going to take to much of the transfer budget up

Bacca is a lot better when Rakitic (Sevilla's main playmaker) plays off him. If he were to join if he could build up a good partnership with Barkley we could have a 15 goal a season forward for half the price of Lukaku - as much as i'd love Rom to stay

If we could only take one player from Dundee United, I would prefer Ryan Gauld if I'm honest. He is exceptionally gifted technically and his playing style would see him do well in Martinez' system.

Andrew Robertson is good, but I feel like LB is not much of a need considering we have Baines, Oviedo, and Garbutt.

Carlos Vela? Has scored 40 goals in 100 games in Spain playing all across the frontline, could really see him fitting in with you guys especially under Martinez. We have a buy back clause of 3M whilst all other clubs have to pay a ridiculous buyout clause to actually attain him which is unfortunate as it is the only sticking point.

Vela as done well in Spain and I mentioned him as a signing last summer.

Bacca is another player from la liga who's done well domestically and in Europe this season and at less than £10m is worth looking at IMO.

It's not entirely clear what Remy's buy out clause is but if it's around £10-12m then he's worth a serious look at this summer aswell.

Same with likes of Drmic (£4.5m buy out clause) & Batshuayi (just short of £7m buy out clause), young talented strikers doing well in there respected leagues and cos of the price are worth taking a gamble on I reckon.

I've seen us, Liverpool & Arsenal linked to Lacazette of Lyon recently for around £10m and he'd be a cracking signing. Very Henry like IMO in style and although he's a striker he can play in the No.10 role, aswell as wide.

I really don't think we'll sign Lukaku now, not without CL and not for £20m or more as we're not cash rich and without the finances the CL can bring we can't afford to fork out £20m+ soley on one player, not even if the down payment was £15m plus add ons! And as much as I'd like us to be in for Bony I don't think we could afford to spend a large sum on him either.

So I can see us going for one of the other strikers above, possibly Remy. But don't be too surprised if we went back in for Ba this summer, don't forget, Martinez wanted to sign him originally before being offered Lukaku on loan, and you'd imagine he'll be available this next window?!

Seen us linked to Diame again today and for £3.5m I think he'd be a good, relatively cheap squad signing and would add to the numbers and competition in CM for next season.

I think Ba said in an interview that he will leave Chelsea for certain to a club that guarantees regular first tea football. I'd be happy to see him as long as he's available for 5-6 million (after all, he turns 29 soon).
