Summer transfer window.

To be fair the ppl we poached from United & City started after the transfer window in September

So this is their first summer

Maybe give them a Summer to see what they can do first

This is true and see below;

It shouldn't depend on that though. We need to succession plan better. Keane and Tarkowski need to be phased out next season and with Branthwaite being injured all the time it leaves us with only JOB and he's been our RB more than our CB. We need to do a big defensive rebuild.

There is a MAJOR problem which no one has considered.

We need quality in the 11 and the squad.

For all we know Aznou, Dibling, Armstong etc etc may all become elite level players.

Posters talk about our squad and how these (and other) players need to "step up" when discarded no matter what.

Moyes seems to write down his 11 on paper at the end of preseason training.

He then goes to that 11 every, single, game.

It takes suspensions, injuries and total disinterest (McNeil) before he drops anyone from that 11.

So, what are we recruiting for this summer?

Young players = They'd have to be insane to join.

Squad players = Never get game time

First 11 players = In what positions because they may not get games ahead of Moyes favourites, making them squad players.

Who actually are we planning to sign?

Pickford / Travers
Mykolenko / Aznou
Branthwaite / Keane
Tarkowski
O'Brien / Patterson
Gana / Iroegbunam / Rohl
Garner / Armstrong
Ndiaye / McNeil
KDH / Alcaraz
Dibling
Beto / Barry

What I would do before anything, and this is something I wanted to happen prior to January...

...id ask Moyes who he will actually play from those 21 players & if he will actively be happy to put them in the 11 or use them for a decent number of games.

Because, for me I'm seeing:

GK: Pickford
LB: NEW
LCB: NEW
RCB: O'Brien
RB: NEW
CM: NEW
CM: Garner
LW: Ndiaye
ACM: KDH
RW: NEW
CF: NEW

While we have players like Aznou, Armstrong, Iroegbunam, Dibling who may well be good enough to be starters next season.

None of us have any idea what Moyes thinks. By some of his decisions, it certainly doesnt seem like Moyes does either.

But one thing is for sure, under him we cant sign any young players or squad players.

He'll ruin their development.

Before we spend any money the people buying the players need to sit down with the manager and align their strategy, otherwise we'll just buy more young players that he won't use. If we're sticking with Moyes get him an experienced right back, a tall number 10 and an experienced striker. That should be enough to see what he can do with his preferred set up. If he gets us into Europe next season then we can reassess.

Get him 3 30+ year olds on loan and bin them and him off end of next season.

Are we really letting Weasel Kinnear and his sidekick Hammond run our transfer dealings again this summer?

Given only one player signed permanently, has been any use why we allowing this?

To be fair mate that Kinnear in an interview on Toffee tv said they had a list of players that they put to Moyes and he kept saying no to said players.

I don't think it's down to them.

My take is Moyes wants Thelwell out as DoF, so he gets to control everything.

He brings in James Smith who's head of scouting/recruitment.

He's the person who identifies Barry, Dibling etc al and Hammond/Kinnear finalise the deals.

They're all responsible but it's James Smith and Moyes who are most culpable.

An almighty mess basically down to Moyes ego because he didn't want Thelwell, who'd done a very good job of recruitment with much less money.

I was no Thelwell fan but given what happened last summer I may have to consider was I too harsh on him?
