Tbh think we’ve blown Europe now Brentford then Liverpool but also glad don’t want Europe. If we can replace Barry, Mykolenko, O’Brien and be there about next year we will be in a better position going into Europe the following season.

The difference in level between KDH/Ndaye/Garner and McNeil is stark. Can’t see McNeil in this squad next season even if we make Europe and the argument is to retain him for squad depth. Nowhere near good enough, off to Coventry with you.

McNeil was out the door and then our hero of a manager starts him every game.

We could sign Rayan and still see McNeil on right wing.

If Grealish were available, he’d be on the bench but first sub option in Moyes mind which belies the logic in signing Dibling and George in the last two windows. Zero joined up thinking. The lack of strategy in squad building, if I were the Friedkins and it was my funding it, would be a red flag for change.

Garner, Tarkowski, O'Brien, Ndiaye, Beto

All signed by Thelwell.

In talks for Truffert & Wesley.

Moyes comes in, cancels those talks and come the summer now says he spoke with 12 players and hes happy KDH & Grealish came.

Such an important summer coming up, it really does determine where we go from here, so it’s really important to get it right.

Maybe consider buying:
  • Real full backs
  • Quick players
  • Actual strikers
In the summer?
The likes of Brighton, Bournemouth & Brentford seem to be able to sign players that have pace, power and are technically good, without spunking crazy money.
We need to do the same after last summers car crash of a transfer window.
I don’t have faith that we can though.

I’m looking forward to another summer where our recruitment team are caught by surprise by the transfer window opening, followed by weeks of excuses about how hard it is to make signings because of the World Cup, followed by weeks more of us chasing a youngster from a relegated side or the championship for twice as much as what anyone else was willing to pay. Then Paddy Boyland writes a lengthy article about what a coup it is for Everton to sign this promising youngster. Followed by a season on the bench with Moyes telling everyone they need to show more in training. And we finish 12th.
