The player we are looking for (not necessarily him) is Ross B at Luton. He played a deep centre midfield, tackling very well, spraying passes over oppo's midfield. Occasionally venturing forward - into the upper third. He was brilliant there (for Luton), in my opinion more so than his role as Lukaku’s valet . I know history is exceedingly poor between Mr RB and the old Everton board, but do not have insight. However this role is what we need.

The other point about employing an aged to do this role, is I think (i don’t know) this is position that Harrison Armstrong is looking for, so a gradual bedding in a good idea, rather than buying someone who keeps him out of the side

Soucek is such a strange footballer, nothing special technically, no pace, can’t pass, can’t dribble but put him in the opposition box and he’s quality. Defensive mid with the instincts of a centre forward.

Should avoid him 100% imo.
