I personally think Leeds and Sunderland will make a fist of it this season.
Agreed.
I think the bottom 6 or so will be pretty tight this season.
Can’t see this years promoted teams being as abject as last year.

I was just taking the post I replied to at face value really, the post you quoted didn't mention non-existent injuries or say we couldn't compete at all so I didn't realise that was the context. The post you were replying to is effectively just someone saying 'I'd like us to start the season with the strongest possible team', which seems like a perfectly reasonable take to me. Obviously we know things aren't always that easy, but I don't think it's particularly outrageous to think it would be beneficial if we managed to get some players in and working with the squad before the season starts.WelL obviously, it’s just pointless crying about non existant injuries and acting like we can’t compete and are just throwing those points away when we know we can compete because we still have those same players.
At least the club will be saving money on flight costs and hotel bills when going on the USA tour with half a squad![]()
Why do people seem to think we have no players who can compete in those first few games?
Of the players who played in our last 3 games of the season (which we won, 2 of them tricky away games), realistically we have only lost 2 starters in doucoure and Harrison. Who were both garbage.
And Doucs didn’t start vs Newcastle, Alcaraz did. Meaning he has already been replaced.
It’s also looking as if we have both branthwaite and Tarks back for the start of the season meaning JOB starts rb. So our back 5 (what, the 4th best defence in the league?) will start.
Na Sunderland and Burnley will struggle. Leeds might be decently equipped to give it a go but Farke's track record in the Prem isn't great..I personally think Leeds and Sunderland will make a fist of it this season.

I'm surprised we didn't try and get them to stay on till the end of the window like lots of clubs do.
For the past couple of years, I've shared my view that this summer - a summer under new owners at Bramley Moore, will be our most important in Premier League era.
An opportunity for a rebuild, and lightning bolt through the club.
But I'm struggling to understand who will be responsible for that recruitment.
As in, ultimately responsible.
Is it TFG centralised structure/wider hierarchy?
Or is it localised?
Is it Moyes?
Why is a CEO, bringing in a transfer consultant with him from Leeds? The very fact press are reporting it's not a direct replacement for Thelwell says a lot.
So far, I'm thinking it's my own lack of understanding, but it would be nice to have a clearer picture soon on who is making the decisions on which footballers are coming in.
Shared my view before, during and now - that removing them was a mistake.
If it was my club, I'd have given Thelwell/Purdy a go with some money - we were definitely in for the likes of Gyokeres, Kudus, Wesley, Minteh, Elanga, Ekitike - but it was always £0 upfront, and come and play for Dyche lad or relying on someone else moving.
Instead, we've... well, I'm not actually sure what we've done;
Yeh I was surprised Thelwell was binned but it sounds like it wasn't anything against him, and more against the role he held.
I don't mind a more diluted spread of power and responsibilities but it needs to work.
My post says the summer up to July 17 and relating to where we are in this window.Jan 2017
schneiderlin £20m
Lookman £7.5m
summer
iceland £40m
Vlasic £8m
L Gibson £6m << did this guy ever play for us?
Bowler £1.5 << same this chap?
I think that's just nonsense for Moyes calls the shots.
But we'll see.
it's the 18th.My post says the summer up to July 17 and relating to where we are in this window.
But this isn't the same team. Young, Doucoure, Harrison, Lindstrom, DCL and Mangala took part (starter or sub) in nearly 200 matches put together. Alcaraz partially covers Doucs (partially, because he too played in 16 matches already) and Barry covers DCL but rest are missing. We weren't even that badly hit by injuries, there were clubs far worse affected. We finished 13th last season, why are we going backwards with the same team?
Yeah, but didn't Moyes reject him when he was lined up to sign for WH ?Shared my view before, during and now - that removing them was a mistake.

So 2 signings...my mistake...alcaraz doesn't count...he was our player as we had to trigger the release clause within a specific time.
