Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

Seems like a bit of controlled Chaos, like his anticipation, how he turns on the ball and the fact he puts his laces through it - tools there.

Just going on the youtube clip posted.
doesn’t sound too dissimilar to Beto…

I know I’m seriously in the minority here but I would go big with wingers/midfielders over a striker.

Do we think Moyes wants to sell Beto?

If, as seems likely, DCL leaves on a free, we’re left with one senior striker. That is completely unworkable. Another striker simply HAS to be a priority over every other position.

no rumours, just came across this player while nerding out on u23 strikers with good goal scoring records… this dude would probably be gettable at a decent price and knows how to put them away. Had a great season

By virtue of the fact that we have one senior striker, right wing remains the highest priority considering we don’t have even one of those.
We don’t have an orthodox right winger no and I’m not saying we don’t need one, but all of McNeil, Ndiaye and Alcaraz can, and have played there. None of those could even be labelled with “do a job” at leading the line. Striker is a more vital area of the team than any one of four midfield positions for obvious reasons. No club has one senior striker, that’s completely unworkable, not having an orthodox right winger isn’t. Forget Chermitti he’s out of the picture because the manager clearly doesn’t fancy him. He’ll be farmed off on loan somewhere.

Respectfully, I’m sick of having a left winger shoved on that side to ‘do a job’

Can you name the last time we had a proper right winger? I genuinely can’t. It’s been the biggest area of negligence for years now. It’s outdated to have all of the goal scoring burden on a striker, wingers/CAMs simply have to chip in with goals. We’re probably not going to sign a 30 goal striker and add to our total goals from last season. It’s much more feasible to find an extra 10/15 from a productive winger on the opposite flank to Ndaiye.

We need striker depth for sure, but as of right now, we at least have a player that can start. Honestly I wouldn’t mind Beto starting next season, he’s proven he can score. Thats more than can be said elsewhere. I’m sorry, but sticking a guy there who’s not a proper right sided player is beyond a joke now.

By the way, I didn’t say we don’t need to get a striker, we do for all the reasons you explain, it’s just a much much more glaring issue at the RW spot considering we’ve had no production there for years now thanks to ‘guys that can do a job’. It’s just not good enough anymore and we need to demand better.

And sorry just to churn this point further (sorry)

It’s utterly ridiculous to have to move your best players out of position to make up for awful squad building. Imagine having Ndiaye score 10 and then having to switch sides because ‘he can’. Same with Alcaraz, he’s shown his best production thought he middle so why would you even want to limit that by shoving them to a position that fundamentally limits them?? We have to put our best players in their best positions, nothing less.

sorry but it’s been my biggest gripe for years now that the right attacking spots have been so disgustingly neglected by management/the board

(Not having a go at you sorry, you make good points. you’re just the unfortunate poster who rattled my gripe with the club’s recent and not so recent recruitment)

I’m sounding like a proper crank now, off to bed x

Villareal fans cant believe we would pay the release clause for this guy...not worth it apparently. He is a good player, but nowhere near a 40 millions euros player.

Tbf they aren’t used to seeing 27m being spent on players like bolasie and tuson

Looks a good upgrade on Beto to me, and I love Beto's heart. If we sold Beto for 20 ish to Leeds and got this lad for 33, I'd be pretty happy. I can't see Beto wanting to stay behind him, and he would never come here to play second fiddle. Same as all better strikers really...

We’d still need to go out and buy another striker in that scenario

Beto has done well since Moyes came in and I’m hoping he will improve after what is basically his first season after having a sustained run of games
