Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

The club sells its best players for mostly top, top dollar.

But every club does that.

No, some clubs retain their best players when they've had years of service from them.

Everton sell there's when they've barely been here for a couple of seasons.

Stop making excuses up for owners and managers who take the piss. No wonder we haven't won a trophy for 30 years.

Unlike you I know how the transfer window works.

Im shocked we didnt cash in on Branners last Summer, you keep telling everybody hes rubbish anyway.

🤔

Where and when have we heard that before...

"The lad begged me for a transfer...Tears in his eyes...what can you do?"

This club sells its best players. Im sorry to say that wont change anytime soon.
Most teams not at the upward end of the table sell most of their best players at some stage. Either for financial reasons or players wanting to further themselves not necessarily because Moyes enjoys selling his best players or saving/making his employer a few bob.
Maybe Iv missed something but can't think of any former player under Moyes at Everton saying Moyes sold him when he didn't want to leave

I know how the Everton transfer window works: if it gets a decent bid it goes.

Not much more to it than that.

If you dont agree then you haven't been paying attention for the last 30 years.

No you are correct, if somebody bids the right amount, the player will be sold, but as I say, its the same at 99.9% of clubs in the world.

Yes, I said that earlier, they will be able to write some of it off, but they’ll need to write a lot off just to be compliant with the 105, they’re not going to have much headroom
Everton published the Annual Report & Accounts for the 2023-24 season, recording a £14.7M increase in turnover to £186.9M, and posting a loss of £53.2M for the financial year.

The results for the period ending 30 June 2024 show a reduction in reported losses, down from £89.1M in 2022-23. Together with the 2012-22, when losses were £38.3M, this would put Everton's total losses for the latest PSR calculation at £180.6M.

However, allowable losses must be subtracted from that number before it can be compared with the PSR threshold of £105M for the last 3 years. Back in January, the Premier League said it would not be charging any clubs for PSR breaches in the 3 years up to and including 2023-24 after all were deemed financially compliant following the submission of accounts before the end of December 2024.

Wherever you are pulling your numbers from, you are wrong. Not based on my word, but the Premier League themselves saying we are compliant. We will have a torrid year of finances from 21/22 falling off which was a year of little commercial income, extortionate interest fees on stadium, silly wage bill etc, and those losses will be replaced by vast upturn in commercial income, excellent interest payments on new stadium, lower wage ratio etc. As of 1st July, we are MUCH better placed from a PSR stance than we have been for some time

We've been over that: we sell young talent we dont get the benefit from. Others do get time with good talent.

You're being willfully obtuse.

If that's how the club has operated for the last 30 years how can you then single out blaming Moyes for 11 of those 30 years regarding selling players if that has been the club's transfer philosophy anyways.

I'm not singling him out. But he's done it in the past and he's the manager now, so...

The benefit is the funds we get for those players, most of which we pissed up the wall on tat.

But anyway, come see me in mid August, we can see how its going then, I dont care in April.
