Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

I dont believe a word out of Moyes' mouth regarding transfers.

He was here 11 years and did the same trick every transfer window: optimism followed by realism followed by pessimism followed by a promise to look at getting in targets in the next transfer window.

I do hope people aren't going to leave themselves open to his BS again this summer too.

The feller spends cash like it's his money and will always be prudent because he wants to please owners...though he will spend out on wages for his family with the club's money.
Maybe that 11 years was more down to the owner at the time than Moyes. You can only spend what your given. If TFG are willing to part with substantial amount of money on transfers in line with psr Moyes might be more willing to spend rather than having to save Bill a few quid all those years ago. Time will tell

Yes, but that’s not the same figure that is used for the PSR calculations is it? There are allowable deductions that need to be factored in before you get the PSR figure.
Yes, I said that earlier, they will be able to write some of it off, but they’ll need to write a lot off just to be compliant with the 105, they’re not going to have much headroom

Maybe.

I tend to think his past behaviour indicates spending will be on the basis of shifting players out.

We know for sure that Moyes is not opposed - to say the least - to selling Everton players.

Again il go back to the former owner who sold Everton players moreso than the manager to line his own pockets. I truly don't believe Moyes back then would have wanted the better players sold but had to agree to it or wasn't his choice to make.
Plus we have minimal amount of players with potential high sell on fees. If he is relying on that to fund summer transfers we would probably end up with a squad size of 9 unless Branthwaithe is sold

But with the club’s financial year running June to June it means that we are concerned with the 142m and an amount for the season just finished which basically needs to be better then a loss of a little under 40m which should be achievable. Then from July 1 the 80+ amount drops off. Not saying we are going to be flush, but there should be some capacity.

He won't be sold unless the club has to due to psr which I don't think will be an issue. Moyes will want to keep him as an integral part of the side. TGF will not want to send out the wrong signals to the fan base selling him in their first summer and moving into a new stadium
Never trust Moyes on selling Everton players.

How many times have we heard him say "he's not for sale" about a load of our players when we know he was in negotiations with buying clubs?

He said at United when he wanted both Fellaini and Baines: "Dont worry, I know EXACTLY how Everton works"...referring to the club saying they wont sell when eventually they do.

If there's a buyer for Branthwaite he'll be sold by Moyes. Put your bottom dollar on that.

142million is the total loss over the last 2 years.

What I’m getting at is that you have to add up 3 years, not one. That’s the rules.

So the new financial year you speak of is not counted on it’s own, it is bundled in with the previous 2 years
A big loss PSR wise for the 2021/22 season will be going when we go to the next 3 year rolling period.

The last two years we lost £142m but not all of that counts towards PSR.

Exactly as you say, referring to the club how Everton works, not the manager but the club. It's a different club now to when Bill was in charge. Managers don't sell players per say, the owners/chairman do. It's not like the football manager computer game where you are basically the manager and the owner all in one.
Did Roberto sell Fellaini to Man Utd or did Bill Kenwright sell him to Man Utd? Managers do have a say in outgoing transfers in alot of clubs. Not all and they most definitely don't have the final say. Alex Ferguson, Arsene Wenger maybe being the exceptions.
Unless Branthwaithe forces a move I'd bet my bottom dollar on him being an Everton player next season

🤔

Where and when have we heard that before...

"The lad begged me for a transfer...Tears in his eyes...what can you do?"

This club sells its best players. Im sorry to say that wont change anytime soon.
