Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

Im sure we’re all delighted he didn’t make any panic buys in Jan, in hindsight. I’d much rather he invest in players he’s had adequate chance to scout & assess in this coming window, rather than be stuck with another panic buy January journeyman on a 3 yr deal. Moyes said himself he was a little taken aback by the lingering PSR issues in Jan, so the fact he didn’t take the risk and kept us up, relatively easily should be commended. From 1st July, we enter uncharted waters again, with available funds to spend. I don’t doubt for one single moment that Moyes will invest in a number of players willing to take us forward in Bramley Moore, regardless of whether he or scouting team identified them. You can’t be comparing Jan & July, it’s chalk & cheese.
I dont believe a word out of Moyes' mouth regarding transfers.

He was here 11 years and did the same trick every transfer window: optimism followed by realism followed by pessimism followed by a promise to look at getting in targets in the next transfer window.

I do hope people aren't going to leave themselves open to his BS again this summer too.

The feller spends cash like it's his money and will always be prudent because he wants to please owners...though he will spend out on wages for his family with the club's money.

I actually don't have a problem with us signing a Brownhill , Soucek or Longstaff ( if Moyes really wanted him ) provided that it was balanced with signing a promising young player like Rigg or Bellingham

I agree with this sentiment, although perhaps you could replace Longstaff with KDB?

I don’t think you try to do too much to soon, target 4/5 key areas an invest well permanently and properly. No making do or making things stretch.

You compromise you pay twice.

I believe they were saying to buy 4 players + spend on a couple of kids. So youre in agreement.

I suppose, no matter what the strategy is, it depends more on convincing young players, who will get offers from much better teams than Everton, that we are the place to go. Good luck with that.

Its all about gametime, the pathways that Branthwaite and even Armstrong are experiencing, the stadium & wealthy owners.

If they go to the very top sides perhaps they wont get gametime and wont have the focus that we'd give them.

I don’t know why people think we will have money to spend, the total losses over the last 3 seasons is £181m.

Losses permitted over 3 seasons under FFP is £105m, and for the last two seasons alone we are already over that (£89m + £53m = £142m).

I’m sure they can offset and worm out of some of this to make it look compliant but barely.

Stadium naming deal should hopefully be announced in the near future, and that alone is possibly an extra 200 millions pound revenue. Then you have the extra revenue from operating the new stadium, I believe we also after a new shirt sponsorship...season 25 26 could show huge revenue which then enable us to spend more.

200m over 10 years, not up front and you can’t count money that’s not been earned yet off the new stadium, their room to spend this summer will be based on the picture as of now.

The new owners are not time travelers, they will be stuck with this situation. Maybe they can buy now pay later deals and not every selling club will want that.

Wait'll you see how Moyes destroys your hopes of a warchest this summer.

He's already strung everyone along in the January window.

The maestro will give a real masterclass this summer running the clock down and buying about 10 bob's worth of players.

You KNOW I'm right.

So just so I’m clear, these owners DO have the cash and want to spend, but Moyes doesn’t want to so we won’t?

From July 1st we are into a new financial year and the last year’s losses become irrelevant to what we do after that date is why.

Whatever there is that can be spent outside of sales wont be spent would be my guess based on 11 years worth of Moyes acting like a miser with other people's money.

I hope that's NOW clear enough for you.

FFP is based off 3 rolling years, not the next one

The last 2 we have spent 142 million, we are permitted to apend 105m over 3 years.

We’re already over the limit going into the 3rd year.

But after June 30th we are into a new financial year where we will have a full year of new stadium revenue, inflated sponsorship deals, naming rights etc so why wouldn’t we be able to spend in that year? Your £142m isn’t even the PSR figure, it’s the total loss figure, so I’m not entirely sure what you’re trying to get at if I’m honest with you.

Is that a yes then? These owners have money and want to spend it?

142million is the total loss over the last 2 years.

What I’m getting at is that you have to add up 3 years, not one. That’s the rules.

So the new financial year you speak of is not counted on it’s own, it is bundled in with the previous 2 years

More clarifications required?

The owners have to spend what they say is allowable under PSR restrictions.

But Moyes wont send anything more than what's brought in.

That's all I can tell you unless you want me to keep repeating the same answer until you understand it? 🤷‍♂️
