Summer transfer window 2023

A rebuild is still needed, either way. A new CB, LB, CM, RW and ST have to be added regardless of whether we stay up or go down.

Walker-Peters is one I think we’ll try for from Southampton, quality full back who can play either side is exactly what we need.

Hes a right back who can play left back...what we need if we want an attacking full back is a left back.

Gnoto from leeds
Walker-Peters from S’ton

But really we need to get away from buying from former/current EPL teams… unless they have relegation release clauses.

Even then, the wages take their toll

While I don't think he's a bad player at all, I don't think he's what we need

We have Patterson who is maturing and, I would expect, we'll give Coleman another year - they sort out the right back areas

It's a specialist left back we need - Mykolenko just about does a job there, but he makes my eyes bleed with the ball at his feet.

Walker-Peters is a decent player, but he's right-footed and he wouldn't be enough of an upgrade at left back.

I don't have a name for you, but I'm hoping the club has a specialist left back in mind if we manage to stay up and are allowed to spend some money - that's quite apart from needing another striker, another wide player, a centre back (given Mina and Coady are off and Holgate needs punting) and ideally someone with a little bit of quality on the ball in centre mid.

We still need like a good 5 players

I think we need 4 players:

LB: Truffert (Rennes), Parisi(Empoli)

CB: Branthwaite*

RW: Johnson(Forest), Chukwueze(Villareal), Bakayoko(PSV)

ACM: Ndiaye(Sheff Utd), Simons(PSV), Cherki(Lyon), Gibbs-White(Forest), Kudus(Ajax)

CF: David(Lille), Hojlund(Atalanta), Wahi(Montpelier), Balogun(Arsenal), Openda(Lens), Moffi(Nice).

Just throwing a few names out there.

I think Johnson will go higher but if Forest go I could see us returning for MGW having been close last summer. Fits the sort of versatile creative player we’re still lacking. Wouldn’t be cheap but I wonder if money comes in for Onana whether the more advanced / creative player is more what we need rather than a more defensive direct replacement.

Where would Johnson go?

Not Arsenal, Chelsea, United, City, RS or Spurs. Maybe Newcastle?

I think we have a chance.

With MGW it would be interesting to see what they may want if they went down...for the money we may also have a chance for Kudus.

If we stay up and he goes it’ll be for serious money. I can live with that.

Using the money wisely and getting the right replacement (6ft 5 with mr tickle arms and the agility of a cat that can hit the opposition crossbar from the edge of his own box) in plus one of a lb/cm/am/rw is the bit that concerns me.

Check out Mamardashvili at Valencia.

Out of Contracts/Loans

Doucoure
Mina
Davies
Townsend
Coleman
Begovic
Lonergan
Coady
Vinagre

I think Doucoure will get his extension because he has played his way into Dyche's good books.

Mina is a tricky one but he is on £120k a week and not seen the light of days for months.

Davies need to move on for his own career because he has too many ahead of him.

Townsend has only just come back from injury and at his age, I think a renewal is out of the question.

Coleman is similar to Townsend but given his loyalty and his form this season, I can see a last year contract/coach role.

Begovic and Lonergan very much bit part players who have worked well with Pickford so possibly a short term deal for Begovic but Lonergan has run his race with us.

Coady and Vinagre will be cancelled.

C'mon dude, be realistic, we don't have that sort of money.

I think you're spot on here - Doucoure will get that extra year triggered if we stay up. If Coleman's injury proves to be relatively minor, he'll get another year

Begovic may well be kept on as a reserve keeper

Mina would probably be offered new terms if he'd take half the money he earns now, but given how unlikely that is, it's reasonable to assume he'll be off

Davies, Townsend, Lonergan and the two lads on loan, I can't see any way they stay

  • Doucoure - makes sense to extend
  • Mina - Unless he was willing to take a pay cut, I think we wish him well and part ways, great player but just too fragile
  • Davies - If we go down, I think we should give him a 1/2 year deal. If we stay up, we should let him go
  • Begovic - Depends on Pickford, if we keep Pickford then let Begovic go, if Pickford is sold it might be an idea to retain an experienced back up on top of bringing in a new starting GK
  • Lonergan - Lol, please leave
  • Coady - Not worth the 4 mil imo, seems a good guy who has influence in the dressing room though so maybe he's someone we could look to bring in once he's hung up his boots
  • Vinagre - Kind of feel sorry for the kid, he can't be that bad, but clearly not fancied by Lampard or Dyche so goodbye and good luck

This is all the more reason for the club to have concrete plans ready to go at the start of the window, regardless of staying up. Any transfer related sanction could probably be temporarily delayed by an appeal to allow business to get done but we might not get the full window.
Potentially could be transfers ban....all seems pie in the sky at the minute,Kind Sir.
