Summer transfer window 2023

Not over joyed by the links to Victor Gyokeres. He's scored 21 and 17 in the last two seasons in the Championship and is 25 years old. Based on the average drop off from coming up to the Premier League would suggest he'd be fortunate to hit 10-12. Better than what we had last year, but we'd have to hope for an outsized contribution.

For reference, some other returns in the Championship recently:
- Neil Maupay - 25 goals for Brentford in 18/19 - hit 10 once in the prem.
- Timmu Pukki - hit 29 and 26 in the Championship and followed it up with 11 in the prem bith times
- Che Adams and Jarrod Bowen both had 22 goals in the Champioship
- Solanke hit 29 in the Championship

IMO, the only type of player we should be looking for in the Championship is someone who is 22 or under, or if there was a striker that is a clearly suited to Dyches style (e.g. big and good in the air).

All to say it would be risky and we need as close to a sure thing as we can get.

TBF it depends on the team they are playing in too. Pukki playing in a Norwich side in the PL was never going to hit those Championship numbers.

Bowen has been brilliant for WH.

Even if Gyokeres managed 10 goals for us that would still be a decent output if DCL regains his fitness. We was a much better team with Richarlison and he only averaged around 10 goals a season.

Feels like we need to bring in two options, doesn't it?

He makes a lot of goals too, could bear good fruit with Doucoure and McNeil.

Tbh, a striker who was capable of scoring 10-12 goals last season probably would have had us finishing several places higher up the table.

Forget Gyokeres Everton should be doing everything they can to sign iliman ndiaye!
That guy is class. He can dribble and he’s got a split second timing that not many ballers have.

12 months left, cheap
If the idea is we'll be safe in 2025 with these signings I'd suggest the guy you'd have to turn around and start replacing in 2025 wouldn't be a good idea.

This is why age is everything. When you buy younger players you increase the odds that they won't need to be replaced in the next 3 to 5 years and on the occasion that they don't need replacing you can then build depth. Once we build some depth of talent we can actually remove ourselves from this year to year survival. 27 year old mediocre players aren't saving us.

I don't believe you actually watched said video. His opening statement:

"Shrewd signings, because of that lack of money, and then after some stabilising they can then go and look at some younger players to make a profit from".

doesn't also depend on what the team create?

We don't really create very much at all... graveyard for strikers Everton.
