Dave was correct in Jan that Dyche was the right man for the job. Everton needed to stay up and he was the best candidate to deliver, which he did. However, imo, Dyche is not going to take Everton forward. He will probably consolidate PL status next season with a bit of flirting with relegation but to put Everton where they should be (top 6/8) then Dyche is not the right man. The risk is if a new progressive manager comes in now would he keep Everton up or is another season of Dyche required to ensure safety? If there is any money for transfers I think now would be the time to get a progressive manager in that can start to shape things for the future.
There is no manager that could come in now and deliver consistent top 6/8 finishes for us. The outlook is extremely grim for both the short and medium term. We are sell before we can buy with very few assets we can sell.
Even with the new stadium opening next year the additional revenues will be nullified for many years by the interest payments we will be paying on the required loan. The only way out in the short term would be state takeover like a Newcastle or a Man City.
Nobody knows for sure what Dyche is capable of because his whole premier league career he has been competing with an arm tied behind his back. I personally prefer a more pragmatic approach as long as it is aggressive with the team pressing and getting the crowd involved. We don’t have a lot of patience for the tippy tippy stuff here. It would be nice if we can add a little bit of quality to the group to help.
I think we should be ok next year due to the 3 teams coming up. I expect two of those to go down. The season after we are in big trouble unless we have get ourselves organised off the pitch as some big teams will be coming back up and we lose the Goodison atmosphere
